       @Tilopa A lot of people are confused about the concept of "life expectancy at birth". Higher infant mortality (due to lack of universal health care) and higher mortality as young adults depress average life expectancy for black males. If you've made it to 60 your life expectancy will be years higher than "life expectancy at birth" for your group. For example, in 2015 in the United States a black male aged 65 could expect to live on average until 81.4 vs. 83 for whites.
