@feld I personally don’t even think there’s so much projects in need of an SQLite server (aka., a client-server solution for SQLite). An embedded database lke that works just like charm for a whole lot of different applications! The real issue is: most devs know only now to build n-tier apps :( whatever goes beyond the well known client-server architecture sounds like abomination to them.

@pwm @feld I feel this discussion got a few sparks when we’re all probably saying the same thing.Yes, single connection/single writer is a known limitation and if your software is write heavy/read heavy, then use smt else (Postgres <3). But if it’s not so write heavy, more like a read heavy (aka., the majority of apps in the world) you might be good with just SQLite!

@feld @pwm yeah, that’s what I said. I suggested Postgres for write and read heavy applications (eg.: near real-time analytics), or even multi tenancy needs w/ complex access control rules, etc.Read heavy is an SQLite speciality. It would perform even better than Postgres (there’s no network involved, and SQLite really does a great job optimizing fs reads). Probably better than any client-server in the world.

@Codeberg Forgejo Actions are new! What’s that? Smt equivalent to GitHub Actions, or it’s more of a Lambda-like Functions service?

@Codeberg damn! Really cool! How much similar is Forgejo Actions syntax to GitHub’s? I saw there are egen `github` variables available. Is it a drop-in replacement?

@Suiseiseki @opensuse yeah, I think they meant the GNU toolset :) It’s awesome, btw! We should be telling the story of GNU, FSF, and Free Software more often.

@gutocarvalho fala Guto!Essa nova versão v0.12 tem patches incompatíveis com a v0.11.3? Que tipo de incompatibilidades? Pelo que entendi, a incompatibilidade é qt ao schema do banco, certo?

Hey, what do y'all use as Mastodon client on iOS? I've used some (the Mastodon official app and PWA, plus other non-official), but they got slow or stopped working after some time. :(

@nuintari interesting matter.Well, I used to be bothered about it. But then, after I started using software that creates media galleries out of my somewhat messed media files, organize them by year, genre, album (in case of music), trilogy (in case of movies), I stopped caring too much about it.If your media has metadata in it, it’s quite trivial to use software to rename/reorg them with new file names and/or dir structures.I’ve used Rhythmbox (Linux), Shotwell (IIRC; another Linux tool), and on Mac I’ve recently used Kodi for media (mostly movies). I’d recommend you to give it a try.

@nuintari dude, slow down! I assumed wrong, but I'm glad you're aware of the tools I mentioned. You didn't ask, but you toot somehow popped in my Mastodon feed, and I engaged because I had the same itch with bad filenames in the past. It's OK to rant about things online, you're welcome to do so. :) But it's not OK to act a stupid fuck as you did in replying me. Be better!I wish you a better day, my new random internet friend! A BSD-powered 👋 from Brazil to wherever the fuck you are in the world.
