Today’s moth on my finger (yes it’s a moth) is the incredible Lunar Hornet Clearwing Moth. There is some amazing camouflage in the moth world, but this mimicry is next-level! They even prod you with their abdomen to mimic a stinging action. #mothsonmyfinger #moths #MothsMatter #lepidoptera #teammoth

Today’s ‘moth on my finger’ is the Great Prominent (Peridea anceps). The prominents are are a family of moths characterised by projecting wing tufts, giving rise to the prominence that their name suggests. #teammoth #moths #moth #mothsmatter #lepidoptera #mothsonmyfinger

Today’s moth on my finger is the Eyed Hawk-moth (Smerinthus ocellata). They’re well-camouflaged with their wings closed, but if provoked, they pop out their hind-wings to reveal these defensive scary eyes, which are beautiful to us! #teammoth #mothsmatter #moths #lepidoptera

In 2019, I had the utmost privilege of filming with Chris Packham for BBC Winterwatch. We recorded a short feature on suicide, mental health, birdwatching and nature connection. It’s an incredibly powerful piece and remains one of my proudest achievements associated with #birdtherapy. I wanted to upload the video here, but unfortunately don’t seem to be able to make it work. #chrispackham #bbcwinterwatch #bbcspringwatch #bbc #mentalhealth #wellbeing #birdwatching #natureconnection

My favourite bird, the Dunnock (Prunella modularis). The bird that got me taking notice of the hidden beauty in the everyday. The bird that has so many hues within its supposedly drab plumage. The bird that became symbolic of #birdtherapy. The bird that I have it’s own hashtag across social media with #teamdunnock. Quite simply THE BEST BIRD.#birds #bird #dunnock #gardenbirds #nature #natureconnection #wildlife #birdwatching

Today’s moth on my finger is the Black Arches (Lymantria monacha). I always think the wavy monochrome pattern on their wings looks like the most exquisitely drawn sharpie pattern. Their star feature, though, is their antenna; just look at them!

Today’s moth on my finger is the Drinker (Euthrix potatoria). This large russet-coloured moth is one of the fluffiest I’ve seen, the Lepidoptera equivalent of a teddy bear! Their name stems from the caterpillars supposed love of drinking dew drops. #mothsonmyfinger #moths #lepidoptera #teammoth #britishwildlife #wildlife #wildlifephotography #nature #naturephotography

Today’s moth on my finger is the Latticed Heath (Chiasmia clathrata). This delicate moth is so underrated, the netted pattern on its wings, the white flecks on the edge of its wings and the dusty speckling across its whole body are just utterly stunning! #mothsonmyfinger #moths #lepidoptera #nature #natureconnection #wildlife #wildlifephotography #mothstodon #teammoth

Today’s moth on my finger is the Pebble Prominent (Notodonta ziczac). Another member of the prominent family characterised by their raised wing tufts. This furry unit of a moth has some exquisite markings, looking dull at first glance until you hone in on their hues and patterns. #mothsonmyfinger #moths #mothstodon #teammoth #wildlife #wildlifephotography #nature #naturephotopraphy #natureconnection #lepidoptera

Today’s moth on my finger is the Ruby Tiger (Phragmatobia fuliginosa). These are bloody gorgeous moths, with a lovely auburn tint all over. The ‘thighs’ have the best colouration though, being a deep bright red. Love them! #mothsonmyfinger #moths #teammoth #mothsmatter #lepidoptera #wildlife #wildlifephotography #nature #naturephotopraphy #natureconnection

I’ve just finished this book. I don’t think anything has ever had such a profound effect on the way I think about certain things: social media, comparing myself to others, blaming others, and considering what my values are, for a start. It’s well worth a read if you get caught up in negative thought processes all the time! #bookstodon
