       @foone this strongly resonates with my past experience with linux: for years I was spending a significant part of the time to make it work (or changing distros), instead of doing work with it. Over time this changed, and I lastly moved to nixos (I don't want update-surprises anymore). I got it "good enough" for work, and there's plenty of stuff yet to be "fixed" to my liking (if and when I'm in the mood, and no more breaking in the middle of something else).

       @Wolven that's why whoever can use alternative software tools should switch as soon as possible to #opensource , where this kind of vendor lock-in is not possible. when a distributor blackmails the users with undesired changes in opensource it's a quick matter of duplicating (forking) the project and change distributor. Although opensource is usually free to obtain, switching from other software could imply learning new usage patterns, or missing some features: it's not something that can be done overnight. The good news is that being free you can start using opensource sw in parallel with the software you're used to, to smooth the transition and be ready if things keep going south. The best moment could have been months ago, the second best is now.

       @tedu I kind of liked the Part 1, I condoned some plot holes for the sake of suspension of disbelief, the introduction to the imagined world was nice and I was hoping that some development of the characters would fill in. but Part 2 was just the opposite: a poor excuse for a parody of a war battle movie, with loads of warfare nonsense (I'm definitely not an expert or a fan of war things, but I was continuously kicked out of the suspension of disbelief as "wtf?! this is so stupid!"). Also the trojan-horse ship Independence Day- style again, kind of luke-skywalking into the death star (also blasting the total annihilation cannon)... come on dudes...
