Really other than a few key conversations, Twitter has totally disappeared as a useful source for me. I have no idea how the "Following" and "For you" algorithm works but I'm seeing stuff from weeks ago in both feeds. And it's just not what is in any way useful to me. Space Karen has totally ruined it. I mean I'm here and it doesn't matter, but a part of me was there on Twitter when it all began. When ideas led our feeds. And when we learned by connecting. And it was amazing. And now it's gone. And all that's left is crass and commercial, and irrelevant. And I miss I what was.

@lowqualityfacts it's really not, if you take the whole country. Some random North Eastern spot of South Korea being technically at a higher latitudes than some random South Western spot of North Korea, doesn't make that statement true.

I actually find this breakdown of Trump indictments and progress in legal trials both amusing and useful. #uspolitics #usa https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-08-02/donald-trump-indictment-investigation-tracker/102677114

Weird, somewhat unexpected brand story coming. And while I kind of expected this to happen, I was doubtful for awhile. Turns out that Blundstone boots are actually a relationship. I loved how they felt when I first put them on, even though it was spectacularly hard to *get them on*. Then I went through a stage of "really? My feet feel *like that* when they are on? And it is *this hard* to get them on and off?".It wasn't that they rubbed or anything. They literally never did. In every way they should be, they were spectacularly comfortable. It was more like my feet felt slightly numb when I wore them. I'm assuming it was because (for awhile) they were tight enough to slightly restrict blood flow to my feet. A couple of months down the track, the boots are now easier to get on and off, and they support my feet in a way I've literally never felt before. They have properly moulded themselves to my feet, specifically. Everyone says Blundstones are an investment. Trouble is that my feet are notoriously tough on shoes. My feet are muscular and strong. And they vary from being super hot to super cold. So I knew I'm essentially a test for Blundstones. I may well be acknowledging right now: Blundstones might actually be worth the investment. It takes time, and it needs regular use for the technology to adapt to you, specifically. It happens, but it needs some weeks to adapt to your balance, behaviour and gait. But wow, when it happens. Just: everything. Good grief. I may have found my favourite boots of all time.

What I would like voters to recognise in the forthcoming election, is the notion of common wealth. And then to realise that's what we live in; a Commonwealth. #insiders #auspol

It's not a scare campaign, Bridget McKenzie. The experts over and over again that nuclear is economically unfeasible. Only the partisan company, Frontier Economics, has ever generated any modelling which is even close to affordable, and its data assumptions are widely discredited. #insiders Nuclear is not sensible in Australia. End of story.

Why do people still pander to America by converting to imperial measurements and fahrenheit temperatures? Almost all the rest of the world is on metric and Celsius. Just ignore the ridiculousness.

Also: let's use a logical date system of small amounts of time (days) followed by medium amounts of time (months) and big amounts of time (years). And not The Stupid American Date System.

Walk done, swim done, lunch done. Now: Ugg-style boots and track dacks on. Got coffee and will be sitting on the couch for most of the rest of today as the rain tumbles down.

Greg Sheridan telling everyone how well read he is on #Insiders is exactly why everyone thinks he's an idiot. Next to the much more reasonable Waleed Aly, he seems unhinged.

To make it clear, I don't agree with the under 16 ban of social media because: 1. It won't remove bullying from teens' lives2. The age verification tech will actually be used to compromise identity and may actually be used *for bullying*3. Teens will not learn how to engage with social media. 4. Alternatives to using social media are not "riding a bike" or "reading a book", but actually "talking to Chat GPT". Good luck with that.
