@derek The free software defintion could use an update though to include thoughts on spyware. It is a common metaphor for lisp programmers to consider data and code as the same thing. Causing a person to give up data without asking, for reasons undisclosed, is like forcing a user into a joint agreement that generates proprietary code.

SICP is great. That book continues to grow on me. It is system design in the pure. I would include more on logic systems in that book, but otherwise it is still an extremely relevant primer to computer science and system engineering.ch1-2: abstraction creationch3: working with existing abstractionsch4-5: Advanced abstractions work (compilers and interpreters)

@jfera It is very relevant for any student wishing to be a first tier computer scientist. And it is one of those books that an elite programmer would have read. Along with the art of computer programming, it will be relevant until the machines take everyone's jobs. And probably still so, as good literature. haha As its use in a normal programmer's career? It is a traditional primer that takes patience. I would recommend the lecture series first if you are unsure about committing the time.

@codesections algorithm complexity. The generic data structure would be some graph with traversal properties, which will have exponential or factorial access complexity. So most languages are hinting that you need to try to rephrase the problem into something less slow.

@derek kind of a security update only guy. That or I update individual packages because the new feature is actually good enough to be on my radar.
