       @itnewsbot Here we go with the whole “existential risk” nonsense again. AI is not sentience. AI is a tool created by and utilized by humans. Humans direct its activity. The existential threat is from humans using their powerful and shiny new toy. Not from the toy itself.

       @absamma It seems like every realm of commerce touched by corporate America is becoming enshittified. People are exhausted with it. I just read in Mother Jones that BMW, Cadillac, and Mercedes are introducing subscription fees for heated seats, auto-dimming high beams, cruise control, etc. {I shit you not}.Airlines charge as much or more but have shrunk seats, narrowed rows, ditched complimentary snacks and added a fee for every perk.https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2023/06/reddit-blackout/

       @realcaseyrollins @dwaltiz I think perhaps there are some over generalizations here. Many folks are reacting emotionally because of the bad experiences they’ve had on mainstream social media. So they migrated to the fediverse to escape that negativity. They find a comfortable home here now to only have the possibility of Meta and its ilk bringing their dysfunctionalism. It’s like inviting a known polluter to set up shop next to your lakeside community.
