@EU_Commission Putin may have pulled the trigger, but the EU's agricultural subsidies, overproduction, export dumping, biofuel consumption, agrochemical exports and inaction on climate change have helped load the gun. Will you address the structural problems?

@Czarnobajewka"The Alma-Ata Protocol also addressed other issues, including UN membership. Notably, Russia was authorized to assume the Soviet Union's UN membership, including its permanent seat on the Security Council.""After being circulated among the other UN member states, with no objection raised, the statement was declared accepted on the last day of the year, December 31, 1991."https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dissolution_of_the_Soviet_Union

@kaia @EU_Commission Seems quite unfair to be singling out China and India.

@kaia @EU_Commission The problem has become far too big and too urgent to be waiting for scientific solutions. But there is of course a simple solution already. We need to stop doing the shit we're doing. Eat less meat, stop flying, less cars on the road, consume less, etc. What is needed is political will to support the alternatives.

@PawelK @kaia @EU_Commission Well, show me your statistics then. This source says 37.67%. Not quite 70%.https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/annual-co-emissions-by-region?stackMode=relative

@kaia I'm not convinced that supporting green measures is political suicide. There is widespread understanding of the state of emergency the planet is in around the worldhttps://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/jan/27/un-global-climate-poll-peoples-voice-is-clear-they-want-actionAs for economic suicide: business as usual means more conflicts over water, exposure to weather extremes, agricultural collapse. This sounds like the much higher economic risk to me.
