@foone Tell that to Broadcom MegaRaid Storage Manager, which requires Java to be installed in a directory without spaces; as an alternative, you can use short path in JRE_HOME global variable (and no, using quotes doesn't work).

@foone The irony here is that old versions of MSM shipped their own Java, and had no problems being installed in Program Files. Recent versions require you to install one of the 3rd party Java 8 distributions (must be x86, x64 won't work), but it has to go to a path without spaces.

@foone That's smaller than my first USB drive (IBM Disk-on-key, 8 MB, Windows identifies it as "M-Systems Flash Pioneers").

@djsumdog @flacs TB3 only uses USB-C port, but with TB4 things are more complicated – while USB4 doesn't need to support everything TB4 does, supposedly Microsoft said they wouldn't certify USB4 drivers that didn't support all transport modes, making USB4 and TB4 effectively equivalent.OTOH, in the previous post I was just counting all the different types of USB ports, and since TB3 and up use USB-C ports, they probably should count up there (as would USB-C ports that support DP-Alt mode). Also, Apple wasn't the only one with MiniDP TB2 ports – at least some HP laptops also had them.

@foone Use dd for Windows? It has a nice --list command, too.

@malwareminigun @miek Remember when USB 2 came out, and they renamed USB 1 to USB Full-Speed (USB 2 was USB High-Speed)?

@mvilain @killick Because scrollbars (and other well-defined elements, like textboxes and buttons and labels, and also having any sort of contrast anywhere) are ugly!

@tomjennings I hoped that also having any sort of contrast anywhere would've made it clear enough that I was sarcastic.

@davidrevoy I've had so many weird problems caused by (what turned out to be) failing RAM, that I swore off regular RAM years ago. I've since only been using ECC modules. Luckily most Ryzens support ECC, though not all motherboards have all the lanes connected, so if you go this way in the future, check the specifications first (Asus and ASRock usually support ECC, Gigabyte sometimes doesn't).Of course, right now any kind or RAM is too expensive, so this is advice for the future.

@foone Just use a shader that emulates a CRT, that'll need the extra resolution.
