@thegibson We are currently rolling out SentinelOne. How would you compare the two?

@thegibson Unless the people running nodes are independently wealthy, the fediverse ultimately depends on shareholder value in one way or another. ;)

@thegibson That said, I despise Facebook and can’t help but hope they go the way of MySpace in the very near future.

@thegibson Nor is it expensive for me as it is somewhat subsidized in my particular case, but it seems like costs could scale quicker than user base once you break 500 or so users.

@thegibson SO seems to have much better pricing than CB, but I don’t know what CB partner pricing is like. SO was chosen prior to the merger, so I am mainly just curious. :)

@thegibson I’m curious how those costs could be mitigated. I happen to know that bandwidth and power are cheap now, and hardware even one generation is incredibly cheap.

@thegibson Storage is cheap. Like, stupid cheap. I’m running Cloudflare in front of Cascadia, which means that I don’t even have to worry about bandwidth. :)

@ella_kane @thegibson We could but I don’t think most users would ever want to. Those of us here are a bit different. Those of us who actually run instances are masochists at heart.

@pixelpaperyarn I run a few home servers just for fun, and a Plex server that serves various media. It's worth it IMO.

Managed to accidentally snort ground chipotle while making dinner somehow. I don’t advise repeating this.

@kelbot Not the kind of people I'd ever want to work for, but yes, there is definitely a market for this.
