@foone There is one constant for 30+ years: hibernate, suspend rarely works, or works for long, on any windows pc. Ive just proved this again with a handful of brand new win11 MSI laptops I had to buy- within 3-4 days, each was freaking out at sus/hib. Often pretending to hib, then coming back 2 hours later in the middle of the night shit no matter what.powercfg.exe /hibernate off then delete that big chunk of crap eating up gigs on your drive, lol. Just kill it.

@foone I was going to say, but didnt want to as Im not a mac person but have worked with them -- yeah some macs can be more reliable with sus and hib unfortunately. Makes sense of course- purpose built hw/os combo produced by 1 vendor.

@alienghic @ai6yr yeah Ive got a few air gapped gigantic drives lately. All this just connects to my usual, 30+ year old systems philosophy of keeping local backups of things I might need when offline, and Im already very good at backup methodologies, so this just gives me a bit more to keep backed up. ; )

@Nonilex we buy ben & jerry's vegan ice cream religiously. For many years. It has been the kids special treats, our special treats, for as long as I can remember. We wont touch unilever products, and if ben & jerry's continues to be sold by unilever, we will stop buying ben & jerry's. There are a million reasons for general action in the country today, and buying less ice cream or any nonessential is part of that strike anyway.

@grickle its weird how, as massive street protests occur more and more often, especially as a result of police brutality and open fascism, kidnapping, gestapo activity, people dont seem aware of the media/entertainment propaganda connection between shambling zombies (humanoids that you must murder en masse from your protected position) and rising fascism, human rights abuse, and the point of view of many fascists online (protestors should be killed). I wonder if we will start to see this?

@davidho gimp, inkscape, etc, can handle most of those needs without the relationship with nightmare corporations and their plagiarism ingestion systems. I haven't touched an Adobe product for decades, and I advise all clients against them.

@futurebird Im more anti "mass shootings + gestapo kidnappings at schools" and anti "eugenics COVID pandemic policy" and anti "church/state violations and indoctrination into false history" sort of person, so while we....... desperately miss all the normal things we used to do with the kids, we at least have the ability to keep them safe(r) at home. GENERAL ACTION NOW is our snow day.
