@cwebber Very interesting; I particularly like our point about the lack of sense of place on commercial social networking sites. I hope your iterative development process allows a diverse group to figure out how to do federated place-making. Will watch with interest!

"You know, when mama and I were little, we couldn't watch stuff on the internet." 4YO, without skipping a beat: "But back then people were gorillas, right?" 😂ðŸ˜

@sir A question after reading your guide: Is there a way to use git-send-email with msmtp?

@klineI like irc but it's crazy that even though I've invested time into my setup, my client/bouncer still sometimes fails to authorize with services. So that's another thing that could improve, either by baking auth into the protocol, or by making services more standardized so I don't have to think about their existence and how they behave. That would also help lower the bar to entry (which I agree is another important objective).

I haven't read all the Github feature announcements, but I can already see a near future where all open sauce project installation/development docs start out asking you to register for Codespaces.Which I guess is only a bit worse than the current `curl | sudo bash`/`npm -g install` situation.

@CarlCravens maybe it says more about your text editor than about your python skills. I think a well-configured text editor would make those kinds of boundaries clear.
