UK CovidCan somebody please explain to me again why the UK is closing the autumn booster vax campaign? And throwing away vaccines that are already in stock and paid for. When 65+ is low take up compared with previous boosters. <65 haven't had a shot for a long time now. And 5-12 was only ever 9% takeup of even the first shot.

Watch for News stories that describe a surge in "Flu and Covid" cases when it should be "Covid and Flu". @Benaresh @save @Radical_EgoCom Nobody ever wants to talk about Anarcho-Syndicalism. Or any kind of Libertarian Left. The idea that this is impossible is a lie spread by authoritarians. And in particular by the Authoritarian Right who style themselves as "Libertarians". They contrast Libertarian Capitalism with Authoritarian Communism as if that's the only two choices. But it's projection & DARVO because it's they who are the Authoritarians.

BSB Motor Cycling at Oulton Park. There's no other M/C racing this weekend. First BSB race is at 13:15. So what does TNT Sports, Discovery+, Eurosport/Quest do? Put it on Discovery+ which you can't get on Virgin and is not part of the TNT Sports subscription so you have to pay the extra $7pm. Instead we've got Repair shop repeats, Cycling, Snooker, Aus Rules, UEFA, Serie A, women's indoor 5 a side. Only the BSB feature race at 16:00 is live on Eurosports 2.Really?

Luckily I've still got a couple of weeks left on my discovery+ sub from last time this happened.Except it gets worse. Discovery+ coverage is missing the build up. That's only available on Eurosport streaming. From the same company but on a different subscription.Why is this all so fuxxered? And why do the BSB owners and promoters allow it? in the TV contracts they agreed to?

Today there will be a vote on withdrawing the pensioner's winter fuel allowance.One side effect of this is that applications for pension credits poverty benefits has gone up dramatically. It's said that a very large proportion of those eligible for these benefits don't claim them. Now why isn't it simply automatic? @alcinnz @gerrymcgovern @TechConnectify Ah. The Collapse argument. Anyone who's read Limits To Growth will recognise it. With continual growth (linear or exponential) you hit the resource and pollution constraints, growth stops and collapse starts. We're addicted to growth because we fund the present by borrowing from future growth. So collapse is inevitable. Applying tech fixes just keeps BUA and growth going for longer. Meaning a higher peak, and a harder crash.

@alcinnz @gerrymcgovern @TechConnectify Renewables are a classic Tech Fix. We're deploying at an exponential growth rate. So far that's just powered GDP growth. It's just beginning to displace non-renewables. Say we went flat out for Renewables, Grand Electricification of Everything, a Grid to support it, dispatchable demand, demand reduction, etc. We'd buy some extra decades of growth. Bigger peak, harder crash. Globally, long term, its still no answer.

@alcinnz @gerrymcgovern @TechConnectify But growth and collapse are already here, they're just not evenly distributed. Locally and short term (<100 years) there are local maxima that individuals and nation states will pursue. Of course US, EU, China and others will try and keep BUA for themselves going for fun and profit for as long as possible. Even when it becomes obviously a zero sum game. There's still a dream in there that they can create a long term defensible position.
