Not that this is news to anyone here, but those tech companies celebrating Pride are fucking hypocrites.https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uFEz7gD_d8Fidcf1K5byNID11Ji5BKFpOMDZc4ShS_A/edit#gid=0(the irony of this being a Google doc doesn't escape me)

Yep, @Jasper_Ben it was my fault, I was using a "live" iso instead of the netinstall. Thanks for the tip!Even with netinstall there's not a lot of options (at least not as many as there used to be), which is a bummer. I suppose I could find a more manual way to set things up, but the old Debian options was a nice "sweet spot" between something like Ubuntu and doing everything yourself.@gemlog

@Jasper_Ben @gemlog thanks for the tip!I’m actually trying to install as little DE as possible, ideally just X and a window manager that I can start only when I need it (i.e. boot to a console).

Is it bad form to fork a FOSS project just to change the GUI bindings so the I/o dialogs match the rest of your system?

I figured out why I’ve failed to follow in Seymour Cary’s footsteps.I need a small but wealthy customer base for whom money is no object if you can solve their impossible problems. Now I know what to look for.

@cstanhope besides my recent resurgence in interest for Rust programming, it also has a vibe that reminds me of BeOS, something more user-centric, not deliberately incompatible with things like Unix/Linux, but also not compromising just for the sake of compatibility.I also have an interest in running Rust on “bare metal”, and this work might be a source of some paths toward that as well.

@cstanhope yeah I’m always excited when I come across something like this. I appreciate that we have Linux, but it’s kind of weird when you think about the fact that its based on an O/S that is older than OS/2, Windows, (classic) MacOS, MSDOS, maybe even CPM...Nice to see something new :)

@djmoch I’d love to devise a hack that superimposes that “neighborhood watch” guy lurking in all the camera footage.
