@futurebird As a neurodivergent with a mathematics background and side interests in mathematics' intersection with philosophy and history, Cantor has always fascinated me. Inspired by your post, I found an excellent biographical paper, "Towards a biography of Georg Cantor" (1971), covering his life, work, and mental illness in a sensitive yet balanced way:https://sci-hub.se/https://doi.org/10.1080/00033797100203837

@futurebird Summary from the paper: "The great influence of Georg Cantor's theory of sets and transfinite arithmetic has led to a considerable interest in his life. It is well known that he had a remarkable and unusual personality, and that he suffered from attacks of mental illness; but the 'popular'' account of his life is richer in falsehood and distortion than in factual content."

@futurebird I grew up on the outskirts of the core area of the Hopewell culture (Cincinnati metro) and have been to Newark a few times.I was fortunate to have a 6th grade teacher during the late 1980s who taught us about indigenous culture throughout the continent, took us to local indigenous sites, and corrected the received cultural and historical inaccuracies. She was easily the most kind and impactful teacher I've had and was a clear exception on this topic from that time period.

@futurebirdSurprisingly Sincerehttps://www.youtube.com/@SurprisinglySincereThe channel is a self-described mix of "personal essays pretending to be critical analysis" of art, media, mental health, and philosophy with a touch of existential dread and overthinking. Not the lightest material, but I've found their style comforting and entertaining at the same time.Tiny Wireshttps://www.youtube.com/@tinywiresThis channel is the project of @munificent, whose musical style is "in the vicinity of deep house and dub techno".

@futurebird It's minor in the larger scope of necessary US congressional reforms that could improve democratic representation and minimize corrupting incentives, but I strongly believe raising the base salary and eliminating stock trades while in office is worthwhile. Wikipedia even has a table showing their base salary over time adjusted for inflation. It hasn't changed in sixteen years.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salaries_of_members_of_the_United_States_Congress
