Please boost for reach. As blind diabetics, my dad and I have been using the Freestyle Libre continuous blood glucose monitoring system for a few years with our iPhones. Have any blind people had any experience with the Freestyle Libre 3, which is smaller and doesn't require scanning, used with an iPhone? Is the app still VoiceOver friendly?

@textfiles Okay, you know I'm interested in all things ZIL. What is this referring to? I'm not seeing any alt text, so if you added it I am probably trying incorrectly to get it. I know the document is garbage from your post, but what is it in the first place?

So I just discovered something cool for 80's retro tech nerds like myself. Are you familiar with Basica or GWBasic, IBM's and Microsoft's BASIC programming environments for DOS before QBasic came along? Do you have a pile of .bas files you haven't been able to run for decades? Now you can! With PCBasic, a Python package that acts like GWBasic. On Python3, just go pip install pcbasic and away you go. I tried this a few years ago and found it to be inaccessible, but what I didn't know is that there's a command line switch. If you go pcbasic --interface=text you get a nice text interface from which you can issue BASIC commands and see responses, run programs, etc. Very nifty!

Twenty-five years ago today, on Monday, December 28, 1998, my sister Karolann gave me a bird clock. This is an analog wall clock that plays bird songs every hour. It's been sitting on my wall for the last twenty-five years, and is, to my knowledge, the oldest Christmas present I'm still actively using. Although it still works, I can tell its days are numbered. In particular, time has not been kind to the button you use to adjust what bird song plays, as it's really hard to make it actually work.Several years ago I recorded all twelve bird songs using an electromagnetic pickup coil, which for those who don't know, lets you record audio almost as good as if the device had an audio output jack. I've never been able to find another clock with the same bird sounds on it. So have this recording for your enjoyment.Bird songs: Great Horned Owl at 12:00, Northern Mockingbird, Black-Capped Chickadee, Northern Cardinal, Downy Woodpecker, Canada Goose, House Wren, American Robin, Song Sparrow, Belted Kingfisher, Tufted Titmouse & Baltimore Oriole.

@storm I've heard them that are higher pitch. Do you have a magnetic pickup coil by any chance? I'd love to find someone who has one of the higher pitched clocks that can coil theirs.

Okay, so where can I quickly get a Wget for Windows that supports modern SSL/TLS/whatever? Newest Gnu Wget for Windows installer seems to install a version from 2008.

I was having some fun with Suno this afternoon, and this is one result. I asked for an 80's pop song, but this actually sounds more country. The lyrics I pasted into Suno's lyric text box are in the alt text, though a lot of this is rendered as pure nonsense. What's at the end is supposed to be assembly language code for the 6502 microprocessor, a 70's era chip that powered the Apple II line of computers among many others.
