       I hope Mastodon's growth is permanent this time around. Its a good example of what the Internet was *supposed* to be – decentralised, open – before the big commercial platforms took over in the 2000s.Now, if only everyone would get back into blogging and RSS readers...

       @plambrechtsen I was half-jokingly pondering something similar: what if Elon Musk accidentally destroyed Twitter but in doing so inadvertently fostered a newly decentralised social media where the libertarian dreams of free speech could be realised – and thus sort-of achieved something akin to what he was trying to do in the first place.
