The insecure "software supply chain" is the result of large corporations incorporating open-source software into their highly profitable, mass market software, without providing resources to those open-source projects. The only real solution is to provide those resources to those projects, but since this is a cost-cutting measure, that is unlikely to happen.

It reminds me of Capitalist recuperation, but instead of the recuperation of ideological movements, this is the recuperation of alternative forms of production into a source of free labour to drive profits; A sort of economic recuperation.

@thenewoil I would not be surprised to find that this requires that the US government and its allies receive privileged access to the devices.

Considering the amount and frequency of speculative-execution vulnerabilities found in modern processors, I am beginning to think speculative execution is not worthwhile and future processor designs should not use it.

@pixelpusher220 @gwynnion It isn’t. Both the Palestinians and Jewish Israelis are observe a variety of religious faiths, and the basic tenets of the various positions are not fundamentally religious.

@shacker @pixelpusher220 @gwynnion A broad over-simplification. While it is a land dispute, the claims are only justified via religion by a portion of the individuals involved, mostly Israelis; For Palestinians, the overwhelming motive is that they have occupied the area since pre-history. The notion of ownership also implies the sides seek an exclusive claim, which is not always the case, particularly on the Palestinian side.

@jay_chi @Lana This is not how debt works. It is inevitable that some debt will be unrecoverable. All lenders accept this risk, and it is a fundamental premise of the lending industry. It is acknowledged by all laws and regulations, and by the operational practice of all lending institutions.

I think ACC is a bad and inequitable system. Having a massive difference in the support provided to those who are injured and those who are ill for other reasons is unjust. By reducing liability for personal injury, it reduces the incentives to improve safety and socialises the cost of negligence. New Zealand has some of the worst workplace safety, and I think ACC is a major contributor. I believe the system needs serious reform. #NZPol
