The main attraction seems to have made it over more or less intact thankfully. Will have to inspect the innards more closely, of course (it needs repaired anyway). It’s huuuge and clunky and gorgeous and best of all, it’s mine now!!

Apparently, somebody at @iFixit liked my videos enough for them to send me their new FixHub portable soldering station for free. It’s "a bit" faster and more powerful than my aging Weller soldering station from some decades ago. The battery pack is optional, the little iron also works from USB-C. Love it so far! Thanks iFixit!

Quick fix on the kid‘s CD player (Harman/Kardon HD200 from around 1988). It was completely dead so I suspected the power supply section. I started measuring voltages and when I touched one of the connections going from the transformer into the PCB with the multimeter probe, it sprung to life. (1/2)

Turned out to be a cold solder joint on the wire wrap connector. Works like a charm again after reflowing generously. 👍😊 (2/2)

The #Amiga3000T restoration continues. Successfully pulled the 68882 FPU and cleaned up the corrosion underneath. Still some traces to fix and vias to bridge but I have high hopes that it’s going to boot at some point. #InTheLabDoingStuff
