       What are people's thoughts on #nostr vs #activitypub? From what I've read nostr attempts to "fix" things like server-based moderation and social graphs, but the system of relays you publish to sounds fairly complicated. And your "identity" is just a public key hash instead of a readable username.Sounds like the nostr protocol is much simpler, which is a common developer complaint for AP.Someone created an activitypub/nostr bridge called mostr which seems cool.

       I got tired of my espresso machine running out of water unexpectedly. There were two clear options: remember to fill it regularly OR #OverEngineer the problem away! With an #ESP32 and a sonar distance sensor, I now have the water level displayed in #HomeAssistant, and an automatic alert on my phone when it drops before 10%.

       The HC-SR04 sensor does not seem to be terribly consistent, so I'm really considering switching to something else. Maybe the VL53L0X infrared sensor. Bonus, it's way smaller too. Anyone have experience with it?#ESP32 #embedded #hardwarehacking #HomeAutomtion

       @frenataI did some hacking around on various fediverse projects to see how difficult it would be to create a federated athletic tracker and got mired in the complexities of creating new activity types in ActivityPub. My next attempt will start by nailing down the spec for the new activities and relationships. Then I'll see if I can spin something up with go-fed or something similar. #fediverse #activitypub #strava #athletics #development
