Seems like remote posts on this instance expire after 1 month now. I guess I will run into a disadvantage at some point.#Starnix just brought back glitch-soc to their Mastodon instance. I'm thinking about bringing back my old account as an alt if this instance is having problems. Starnix is stable and has a good Explore and Federated timeline. But at least I've migrated accounts to a well-known Linux-based instance so I can post my Linux content. And @atlas_core seems to like Starnix, so I'll make some considerations...

#Microsoft announced that #Windows10 is no longer getting feature updates and that 22H2 is the last feature release. Support ends on October 14, 2025, so it should still get bug and security fixes. Honestly I’m susprised they still gave it feature updates after #Windows 11 was announced.

@nergal Well Microsoft did say that, but as they were working on Sun Valley, which was a major revamp of Windows, it would be too much for many Windows 10 computers to handle so they had to make Windows 11, and they’ll phase out Windows 10 as a result. Luckily they both supposedly work with the same license keys and Windows 11 is a free upgrade from 10.

How do you feel about #BlueSky not federating with the #fediverse over #ActivityPub?

@gabriel What's cringe about BlueSky other than not supporting ActivityPub?

@OpenComputeDesign I like the SteelSeries Arctis 3. It works over the 3.5mm jack and has great sound for gaming. And each pair costs $69.99 USD.Well, it did until I just realized it just went out of stock. You might like the Arctis Nova 1:https://steelseries.com/gaming-headsets/arctis-nova-1

@colinsmatt11 There's always linux-libre and GNU Hurd. But he chose Linux because Hurd was too complex. So I prefer Linux-libre.

@nicemicro @colinsmatt11 Yes, but there are blobs in the kernel, mainly proprietary driver interfaces for network and graphics cards. linux-libre removes them all.

Personally I prefer the 2005 website. Though to get the best experience, you have to be on a desktop at 1024x768.

The 80s/90s prgrammers didn’t have as powerful hardware back then, so they had to make small but powerful things. Modern programmers don’t have those limits anymore. This is why #retrocomputing came onto the scene.

@topher @Haijo7 People talk about saving the environment. I think we should focus on using less computer resources, which saves data and battery, as well as your old devices, which also saves the environment.

@tilvids @LinuxGamer Are other PeerTube instances still allowed to subscribe to tilvids.com? @gabriel tried to subscribe via peertube.libresolutions.network but he said he hasn't been accepted, and he might've been rejected.

#Google will start purging old accounts in December 2023. And worse, many #YouTube channels tied to inactive accounts will also be deleted too. Better start logging into your old accounts if you haven't already (and you'll get tracked too).https://blog.google/technology/safety-security/updating-our-inactive-account-policies/This could mean channels like #NCIX Tech Tips may be gone for good soon, so grab those videos (with yt-dlp, a fork of youtube-dl) while you still can:https://inv.dembased.xyz/channel/UCjTCFFq605uuq4YN4VmhkBAThere may be other channels that haven't been active in at least two years. If you know of any, please reply with some below.
