@mark @alexch that instance is currently limited, which just means that their content doesn't appear in our federated feed. Thanks for bringing the inciting incident resolution to my attention, I'll look into that. In the meantime, you should still be able to follow accounts from there if you wish, even while it's still in "limited" mode.

I've added some custom CSS to give "DMs" (i.e. the posts that only mentioned people can see) a different background colour, so it should be a little easier to grok when a post is public vs private*. Let me know if you have any feedback or tweaks!* insert standard disclaimer about fediverse privacy**** insert _novel_ disclaimer that actually the only way I can read your DMs is by requesting a database dump, and if you think I've got the energy for that, well...

@jswright61 not at all. I think a lot of people will be experience a bit of UX friction as they come over to Mastodon, but hopefully the "expectation realignment" isn't too painful. And I'm sure there are aspects that Mastodon could add without compromising the base premise (This Isn't Twitter™️ 😆)

@CoralineAda on our instance I’ve added the CSS rule, yeah. Also on the web, you can see the visibility setting for a post in the top right - globe indicating public, @ indicating only mentioned people (DM)
