@10leej I just tried to follow @thelinuxcast on my other account @james2, and when I refreshed the page it still said "Follow", so I still wan't able to follow him. Is the glitch still going on, or does he have mstdn.starnix.network blocked?@splitshockvirus Can you please investigate this?

@10leej @james2 @splitshockvirus But I noticed it last night when I saw my following accounts dropped by 1, so I downloaded the csv and compared it to the previous, and @thelinuxcast was the one removed, hence what started this.

This account will stay for now while I figure out what account should be used for what, as well as who to follow. However, I think I know what instance to migrate to.

@10leej Alright, @thelinuxcast accidentally had our server blocked, but I was able to get him to fix it. He just followed my account on LinuxRocks.online.https://fosstodon.org/@thelinuxcast/110002023915437181But it seems like a bunch of people from this server will have to refollow him.

@10leej cc @LinuxGamer @dcc @trippedup @GLFC If you previously followed The Linux Cast, you might need to refollow him. See this thread.

Some old #DistroToot accounts, as well as one of tallship's old accounts (followed me on distrotoot.com) on this profile linked below. I followed this guy on DistroToot and transferred my follow list to Starnix. #DistroTootRefugeehttps://qoto.org/@Diptchip

When #starnix got its name, it was based off of *nix, where * was the star. We were themed around Unix and unix-like operating systems, and we were created to help refugees from a YouTuber's instance find a new home, while also going in a new direction.

Alright, so I will be migrating this account to @jamesp@linuxrocks.online. LinuxRocks will become my new primary account using Mastodon.I will also be active on these accounts:@jamesp@social.sdf.org - My SDF account, used to interact with SDF users.@james@pleroma.jamesp.org - My self-hosted Pleroma account.@james@pl.starnix.network - My alt on Starnix's Pleroma instance, in case my personal instance goes down. All my old posts previously made on this account will remain up so you can look at them in the future. I will never forget the memories made here.

@twizzay I don't know, but I responded to a post from Chris Trottier from my Pleroma instance @james@pleroma.jamesp.org. Because of that, over 15,000 people saw my post, so it syndicated to a lot of servers. In my home timeline, I also saw someone from nerdica boost a post in my home timeline, even though I wasn't following them.I also didn't see a post from you in my home timeline, despite me following you. Maybe that's why I got a notification on Starnix Pleroma (my other Pleroma, @james@pl.starnix.network ) of you refollowing me because you switched to Akkoma. I could see your post there.Worst of all, when I tried to refresh Pleroma, it couldn't even load the web app anymore! That's when I thought I had malware.Luckily, I had Soapbox installed on my server, and I was able to view my timeline. That account from Nerdica was still there, so I ended up blocking it, and then later unblocking and suspending the account on my server.

@m0xEE @splitshockvirus I'll miss Iska's MIDI music. This was the first one I've heard, when XMP outputted the audio to a file because it couldn't find a device. I mainly saw Iska on the local timeline.

@m0xEE @splitshockvirus I forgot to point out, they're actually modules, which are music files programmed for specific hardware. Iska said she got them from The Mod Archive:https://modarchive.org

Well it looks like I'm no longer following accounts from floss.social on this instance. (Pleroma and Misskey can't talk either) This is a bit crazy as they haven't blocked that many instances in the past, though they did suspend accounts for no reason.@splitshockvirus followed many accounts over on that instance too, and many popular accounts did follow us. That must mean gleasonator must've finally been cut off too as well, as well as leafposter. It's likely they imported the Tier 0 list from Oliphant, which this instance must be on. It's likely this will accelerate the splitting of the Mastodon Network even further. This is who I've just been cut off from, just to name a few:@ademalsasa @qt @GTK @xfce @xubuntu @forgejo @forgefed @WoodpeckerCI @FreeRCT @fdroidorg @IzzyOnDroid @GIMP @kde @kdenlive @omgubuntu @gnome @9to5linux @XOrgFoundation And last but not least, two of our own:@jamesp @linuxgamer@floss.social so @LinuxGamer you've been cut off from your own account on floss.social. Looks like you'll have to use @CJLinuxGamer@fosstodon.org instead.cc @CJLinuxGamer@pl.starnix.network @LinuxGamer@mk.starnix.network What's unfortunate about this is that most of the people on this instance didn't really do anything wrong, and we're now being cut off from one of the fastest-growing FOSS instances on Mastodon, which even KDE and GNOME are on, and even x.org just joined! And even if they ran their own instances (Xorg could've done it, and I even ran a poll for KDE), they probably would've used the blocklist anyway. So I'm glad I moved to linuxrocks.online, because unfortunately I might not be able to use this account the same way I used to anymore. I remember us being cut off from oldbytes.space and mas.to, and I was able to tell because I make backups of my following list. I knew that a large familiar Mastodon instance was eventually gonna cut us off, so I'm glad I moved just in time.(The rest of this post will be mainly personal account meta, so you can skip to the end.)I'm glad I can still make this post on glitch-soc despite my account showing as migrated. But who knows how long that's going to last as the network is splitting. The amount of neutral instances that aren't affected is going down as the network is splitting.Honestly this sucks for #Starnix. Most of us did nothing wrong but this is what we have to deal with. The good news is that we'll represent the side of the fediverse that didn't give into this crap, even if we had to pay the price. I wished I could save this instance, but I fear it's too late and others have moved on and accepted what's happened. The reason I no longer treat this account as my primary account is because I was able to move to another Mastodon server, and by remaining on Mastodon I feel as I would be contributing to the Mastodon Network, despite us using the glitch-soc fork. I kept my alts on Pleroma and Misskey, because Starnix runs other servers too.I am mainly active on the Pleroma instance as @james@pl.starnix.network but you are still free to use Mastodon if you'd like since it's free software. But I don't really care as much as I used to about being on the local timeline anymore, so you won't be seeing me there much anymore, except in rare cases like this post. The fate of this account is still up in the air. I may revive it since I like the glitch-soc interface, or I may leave it in the dust because I no longer support Mastodon. I do run my own Pleroma instance, and Starnix also has a Pleroma instance, so I'll probably remain there instead.Anyway, R.I.P. floss.social, as well as this instance being a first-class citizen on the Mastodon Network.P.S. So much for Michael Downey deciding to ban innocent FOSS accounts from other servers. I'm glad he doesn't have to see this post.

@kirby@asbestos.cafe @kirby Maybe I should try this with one of my other accounts...In fact, I was thinking about doing a Migration Test using two accounts just to see how they would work. I just gotta figure out which two instances to test it with...
