@MirceaKitsune yeah, I wouldn't ban people for having discussions around it. But saying that I have decided to block Gab from our instance as I feel like our users would be a targets for abuse.

@JigmeDatse @slightlyflightyone would be nicer if blocking was fixed at the application level, hopefully that will come soon. For now it was the easiest / most effective way of doing it I think. I could map out all their IPs and block them, but they could change all the time so would be a lot of work.

Domain blocking only affects the local database (https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/issues/10221), Gab can still query your instance.I added these three lines to my Nginx server block to detect their User-Agent and always return 418 I'm a teapot (https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2324#section-2.3.2)Tested from their instance and it causes errors š#mastoadmin #mastoadmins #gab

@debugninja if you grep your access logs for āGabSocialā you should see the status code going back to them. If you canāt see any requests from them I can send some from their instance when I get home later š

@Gargron if you do can you write up a migration guide for medium/large deployments. It was a pain going from AWS to Wasabi in the first place.
