I feel like I'd be wasting time trying to "contribute" to a "discourse" that's not even a level playing field, tbh. That's part of the problem I mention in https://www.jacky.wtf/essays/2025/autochattering/ because even I spent nearly two months refuting the *marketing* language of genAI, the folks who are spending money in hopes of making money in genAI will not be stopped. I like writing code. I don't *mind* making the act of writing code easier (have you seen my Neovim setup? my snippet collections?). I do think it fucking matters how it's done and the whole "doing it for the sake of business" isn't good enough for a reason to justify *anything* to be okay. @iris_meredith This is a big reason why I'm hesitant on writing anything longform. There's a strong want to keep these two things separate and IMO, this want to divorce any sort of humanities chat in tech has been brewing since the angst folks had for the main/master switch with Git. That was a low effort lift; this, according to the author, puts them "behind the curve of the vibe". @anildash

trying to figure out if I'm doing something extreme(ly dumb) here but here goes:* I want to have a GUI editor for #Jinja (using https://docs.rs/minijinja/ but lowkey doesn't matter)* I want to be able to parse out JInja in such a way that I can tell if it's being used in the definition of #HTML (either as an attribute value or declaring an attribute) or in some logic scenario * I want to use Prosemirror for the editor interface (not married to this)The hope is to be able to make editable templates similar to what folks at Webflow, Framer and the like can do. Long term use could be an editable interface for something like a #Markdown site from a data-generated page.#templating #javascript

This is part of a PoC I'm working on my website. Seeing https://editable.website/ has proven that some part of this is possible (on the client side). And I think it's possible to expand this so a generic Jinja GUI editor could be made.There's also *just* using regular HTML, tbh. Instead of Jinja, I could make custom elements that mimic what I want in Jinja and use that to write the "templating" layer of my site.(This is my #worryStone project, a looping PoC of a larger PoC)
