@futurebird I gave away all my vinyl records as well as my turntable in 2000 before I moved across the country -- I occasionally have a tiny pang of regret. I do still have a handful of cassette tapes that I have no way to play, notably music made by a friend who died young and a random tape that my sister made of my nieces when they were kids -- so, genuinely irreplaceable stuff.

@futurebird Yeah, this is very catlike: I want to cuddle, but I only feel safe if you can't see me! Also, they are almost always control freaks, so if being somewhere is their idea it's good, but if you want to put them in that same place -- oh no, completely unacceptable.

@futurebird For me, Pratchett is hit or miss: I adore some of his books and others... eh. There's a subset of Discworld books featuring a character named Tiffany Aching, starting with Wee Free Men, that I really love. Also love Monstrous Regiment. On the other hand, there are a batch that are basically "here's a parody of a modern institution" (post office, bank, whatever) that just don't do much for me -- although as other comments show, some folks love them. As with so many things, YMMV.

@futurebird If I were visiting NYC and given this choice, I would not have any clue that one of these was a local and the other was an express since the sign has no indication (that I can see?). I guess "you just have to know"! If I had cell service, I'd be consulting a transit app and doing whatever it told me. Otherwise, I'd probably take the first to arrive, lol

@futurebird In honesty, I had to pick the last option (I don't aspire) because there are google services I still rely on and use regularly and am not making any attempt to switch. But I do aspire to limit google-dependency. On my laptop, I use duckduckgo as my default search. Still need to figure out how to change default search on my phone. I don't use gmail as my primary email (or even secondary) but I do use google calendar. And I have a youtube habit. So, mixed lot, alas...
