Well...just fixed the car and it only took 40 minutes from the time the caliper hit my front porch and I was on a test drive...very easy job and the car is whole again...did some hard stops to test it out and the wheel was cool to the touch instead of too hot to touch...only 71 bucks for the caliper and worth every dime...so tonight is going to be a good cocktail night...good afternoon!#today

Well..we had another pink sun here with an air quality alert..again...but at least I don't smell smoke today..have the rides done and ran an errand to the bank to get some cash for pool day Thursday and now I'm getting ready to head out to the beach at 10:30...I really hope the water is warm enough to swim...I have a pretty high tolerance for the cold but it has been colder than that lately...don't have a lot else to do today so there will be time to read after I get back...good morning!#today

Well...I'm injured...coming up to pass another biker in full sprint mode and the idiot swerved right in front of me and I had the choice to t-bone him at 20mph or lay the bike down in the sand and rocks next to the trail...so I laid the bike down and tore up my left side doing it...the handlebar stabbed me in the left knee and my left elbow hit a big rock and bled all the way back...and my upper left ribs and back are going to hurt like crazy later..oh, well...good morning!#today

Well...man, this heat and humidity is just wearing me out so I'm going to take it easy the rest of the day...I did get the rides in early and was soaked through by 7:30am...it didn't get below 77 degrees last night and we're heading to almost 90 again today...oh, well...still have leftovers today so I won't have to cook but I may make some pasta salad later...still eating out of the freezer and after another week, I may have room to fill it again...good morning!#today

Well...I think this is a first...it's still raining out there so I need to re-think my schedule and do the grocery run today...this will be only the 2nd time I've driven the car with the top up and I want to hear how much quieter it is than the old car...I may even be able to get a beach run in after I get back here and do the rides...but we'll see...it must have stormed here last night since my prep table that is beside the back window had standing water on it...good morning!#today

Well...I'm happy to report that the coughing stopped last night and I've already gotten the first ride in with no problem...now I'm sitting here having the last cup of coffee as I wait for it to get to 9am so I can go to the library and get two more books since they are closed for the holiday Monday and I don't want to run out...the white cruise ship is back at the dock downtown so I guess they are trying to make up for lost time..cold out there this morning at 47 degrees..good morning!#today

Well...the clouds looked pretty neat when I took off this morning...and this deer was just standing in a front yard on the way up to the beach and she didn't move as I rode by her...the wind was easy at only 10-20 after the 30-50 yesterday and I had a nice tail wind coming all the way back...the wind deposited a foot and a half of sand on the trail out by the beach and I had to walk 300 yards or so...the beach road was covered by a foot of sand...good morning!#today

Well...saw this ship today and it appears to be a really old powered barge that the engine is detachable...never saw one of those before...have had a pretty good Saturday and am all done for the day...I can't believe my daughter turned 48 yesterday...still have a photo of her at age 3 in her pink footie pajamas on my bookcase..man, time flies..the weather has been great here and I have the house opened up since it is almost 80 and it appears we have some rain coming..good afternoon!#today

Well...not a bad day today the rides didn't kill me like they did yesterday and I even found time to make a run over to DD to get some food on their 10 items for 10 bucks sale...I mean how can you pass up applewood smoked bacon for 2 bucks a pound? Not much else happened other than giving myself a haircut and I read another book so I'll have to hit the library tomorrow to pick up 4 more to get me through the weekend...good evening!#today

Well...sold the old car yesterday for a couple of grand and that means I only paid 2,400 bucks to use it for 15 years...it went to a father and son who were looking for a project car and that made me happy that it will still be on the road...up way too early at 4:30 and have a fitting for the new partial dentures at 8:30am...don't have a lot of plans for today other than running an errand after the dentist and getting the bike rides in...and folding up the car cover...good morning!#today

Well...the dentist appointment went well and they mapped my entire mouth in 3D with a laser so they have the measurements to build the partial dentures I'm getting in two weeks...pretty high tech...I did get the rides in and then took care of the flower beds by taking the string trimmer to them just like last year...cleans them out quick and all I had to do then was rake them up...now it's time for lunch and then some reading...good afternoon!#today

Well...got two outdoor rides in this morning and saw that Muskegon lake is lower again...I think it's the lowest I've seen it since I moved out here almost 5 years ago...the water line has receded at least 150 feet and the rocks that were under water a month ago are now completely exposed...strange...I did get out in shorts for the 2nd ride but I think that will be the last time this year...going to have highs in the 30's next week...brrr...good morning!#today

Well..just got back from helping my sister in law get organized for the move to the new condo...and she sent me home with a straw hat that my brother wore all the time that I am going to use for my new beach hat...my other brother and I got along quite well which was a bit of a surprise that I welcomed...now I'm taking the rest of the day off to make some food and read a bit since I haven't eaten yet today...good afternoon!#today

Well...another year, another great turkey...but the absurdity of making a 13.5 pound turkey just for me is making me smile a bit...the brine did it's job again this year and the addition of thyme in the butter really brightened up the flavor...moist and tender and tons of flavor...but now I'm done for the day...Wrexham plays at 2:45 so that will give me something to have on in the background as I read...started a new Robert Ludlum novel today...647 pages long...yow!Good afternoon!#today

Well...the snow has started but I was able to get out to run an errand to get the egg noodles I need to make turkey soup...my son got my website working again after all kinds of problem with hosting that kept it down for two months...I finally have my space back to do the political commentary that I won't do here and it's nice to be able to have a place to just talk about anything I want to again...radar shows the snow all the way back to Iowa...ick...good morning!#today

Well...have the weight work in and the first ride done and now I'm having the last cup of coffee as I wait for F1 qualifying for the last race of the year to start...it snowed a couple of inches last night so I'll be out there shoveling after the 2nd ride...don't have to cook today with the soup I did yesterday and I took some bacon out of the freezer for breakfast for dinner later...don't think I'll do much but read later....good morning!#today

Well...whenever the bike rides are a grind, I think of this Steely Dan lyric that runs through my head: "I was grinding through my day gig, stacking cutouts at the Strand, when in walks Frannie from NYU, we were quite an item back then..." I love the story songs that SD did like "What a shame about me" and "Doctor WU" along with "Deacon Blues"...have the first ride in and having coffee to fuel the 2nd ride that I'll start in a few...need to dig the end of the alley out...good morning!#today

Well...after the debacle of not being able to get warm after the bike rides yesterday, I decided to put some long workout pants on along with a long sleeved t-shirt for the rides this morning...have the first ride in along with the weight work and I am sweating like crazy but it feels good to not be cold...we're going to get rain/snow today and the forecast says an inch of rain so we'll lose a lot of the snow...don't have a lot to do today but finish off the last book...good morning!#today

Well...I don't know if you've ever seen a sad dog but Art is acting sad...doing nothing but walking around the house looking for his people and it appears that I'm not a good substitute...then he sleeps almost all the time and I feel bad for him...Toni is back tonight so that will get him out of the doldrums...and it will get me back to my life what it is...and I need to shovel the snow since another 8 inches of it has piled up in Muskegon the past two days...good morning!#today

Well...as you know, I've been so cold on the bike downstairs and the basement is just too cold...today I figured that out...one of the small glass block windows was still open behind some lumber that I had left over from building the door frame...so it's been open all winter and that is pretty stupid...after I closed it and had one heat cycle happen, I was able to do the second ride in shorts and a t-shirt and that was liberating...good afternoon!#today
