unlike many on my instance, i happen to believe italians are actual human beings, and i reject the pseudoscientific theory their DNA, rather than a conventional helix, is actually comprised of tiny rotini pastas. but that's why we have the marketplace of ideas.

@mdszy that's usually just the case when it's a person nobody on your instance follows, so your machine doesn't grab copies of their toots. you gotta click through to look at the account on its server. otherwise it just looks like some rando that's been here for a year and boosted like three people from mastodon.technology and otherwise lurked quietly. menacingly. waiting. biding their time.

i am not a fan of how heated online exchanges take place with an incredibly strong gravity pulling them away from issues and toward direct antagonism, like trying to resist against an event horizon of bad faith. but i also don't question for a moment why that happens. every take on this webbed site is attached to a real person in a difficult world. i've found it useful to keep in mind. it doesn't make everything correct and agreeable. but it sure helps everything make sense.
