@simon which would be fine if 1) ethnicity were just about colour; 2) they rendered everyone with colourless, transparent skin. As it is it’s aryanising, which is not ok. Literally wiping out records of diversity!

@aral Nothing excuses war crimes, that's what the category is for, but I was surprised that some of my colleagues had never even heard of that event, though I was also surprised to have it brought up by the other colleague in the first place (and one on one).

@futurebird @swelljoe my dad of grandpa taught me to do that so we had a few of these. Typically though not a screw through that loop but copper wire you then earth/ground somewhere — often by tying it to the screw holding the plastic outlet frame in if that screw connects to the metal frame of the power box the wires come through, which it did typically by the 1970s.

@futurebird I keynoted at a spoken language systems meeting in about 2017, and the scientists were trying to make it faster to use those voice menus, then being mystified that some people talked way longer than necessary. I immediately said "sounds like they are bond testing." In a human, we all have about the same amount of time, so how much someone will spend with you is an honest signal of how much they value you (though maybe not of why they do). In AI companies sell time, so signal fails.
