She thinks "praying" for somebody involves a bunch of catholic people mkaing a sort of ritual where you're in the middle and they put their hands over your head and they start asking god for help and then presumably keep at it for a few minutes, presumably because at some point they switch to talking in tongues while crying.…I don't think I like catholicism. If they're gonna cure me from being gay I think I'll pass.

i watched five minutes of the US presidential debate and it was five minutes of my life i'm never getting back, no thanks to both sides. maybe this isn't my place.…who am kidding, the US does whatever they want to other countries so it still matters to me. but still, i learned nothing from the debate. i would not vote for neither side. really, are these two the best candidates for a presidential debate?

mpd supports musicbrainz tags but the client must support them as well. artist naming issues will split some artists in two and fuse some unrelated artists into one unless there's proper musicbrainz support on the client and i checked, no client has support for itjellyfin has trouble with the "/" character on the artist tag and will split any artist tag into two at that point, on every tag format, making artists like LOONA's subunits uncompatible. if i disregard that i could use jellyfin as a mopidy backend but mopidy STILL DOESN'T SUPPORT REPLAYGAIN COME ONkodi supports musicbrainz tags but it doesn't support saving playlists in m3u8 format and will instead swap out any non-ascii character for '_' effectively making the playlist saving function completely unusable unless I rename half of the thousands of files i have on my library. remote support is excellent but there's no headless/daemon support so you must run the graphically intensive UI at all times. this UI STILL DOES NOT SUPPORT OTF FONTS, so if you need non latin character support on the UI you're stuck with the "arial based" font option which is not very attractive at all but all alternatives are OTF based so you're stuck with that.clementine is discontinued. strawberry isn't but there's no musicbrainz support, and it doesn't have remote support like its predecessor did.

i hate music players. they always have one big problem.kodi because of it’s devs’ way of not handling problems.most others because of their extremely basic handling of tags.i wish i knew how to code. making a music player will be my first project and i will baby it to completion no matter what the cost is. but first i must learn to code.

@mewmew @natalie @lynne since my only requirement is to stick to musicbrainz tags, because my library's organization scheme is release-oriented, i've resorted to using Kodi as a server, which doesn't ever merge albums or artists with the same name or separate an artist into its multiple spellings as different artists, even on the remote app Kore.but Kodi doesn't support unicode filenames when saving playlists. and the GUI doesn't support OTF fonts. it's like they don't care about non-latin characters at all.

@natalie @mewmew @lynne well I was gonna write a long post on how MALP, Cantata and MPD were a nice trio but they do use the MBIDs when available.The only workaround to use these would be to remove these tags from your files. Tools: MusicBrainz Picard. Yes, ironically best tool to remove MusicBrainz tags is Picard.Just drop your files on the left pane, select all your files from the left pane and find the IDs on the bottom pane, delete the tags, hit save, wait. You might want to disable automatic lookup so the files don't go to the right pane and destroy your tags when you hit save.Alternatively you could use Kid3 but you'd need patience and quite a bit of RAM. I don't know about ExFalso but it may work as well for this job.
