Decide to put a little more effort into using #Movim, and creating some Communties to test the #pubsub One of the features I like is that public blogs and communities can be accessed even without a Movim/XMPP account - They just appear as a normal webpage..Here's one for #peertube #anime I made to test..https://movim.dcentralisedmedia.com/?community/pubsub.dcentralisedmedia.com/peertube-anime

@derek Via @yunohost - Maybe 30 minutes, the first time.. (The package on Yunohost is not maintained, and there was one file that needed fixing).If you're not using Yunohost, they do have Docker images and Debian packages to install.. But it's pretty quick and easy 👍

@derek Purely serverless? #Scuttlebutt ( @manyver_se ) - But what it offers is more limited.... e.g no video/audio etc..But, when you're running your own #XMPP / #Movim server, with your clients directly connected - The are 'essentially' serverless, in so far that you're not talking to another server first...And you get encrypted audio/video calling etc etc

@gamliel @gamliel @xmpp is just a protocol... What it can be used for is merely just limited to imagination... 🙂#Movim shows that it can be for blogging and social networking as well... As for the size. Just sign into another Movim pod, like https://mov.im .. Don't have to download it.. Unless you want to run your own pod (which is what I do ) 🤔

@gamliel @gamliel That would be #Movim then…The easiest way would be to test it for yourself - if you have an XMPP account, just login to https://mov.im with it - no need to sign-up..Or (if you don’t have an #XMPP account) would be to create an account on mov.im and test it. Then with Movim + XMPP you have chat and voice/video calling (encrypted if you use a client like Blabber.im etc), posting to your own feed or channels, news to you own feed..#Federated software that’s better than #Facebook 👍

@agentcasey @0 If you’re not hosting either the #XMPP server, or the #Movim pod… Then it’s all a moot point, as your are relying on the honesty of the server admins… If you host your XMPP server, but use a third party Movim pod, then yes, it might be an issues…The best solution is to host both the XMPP server, and the Movim pod… 👍
