@muzej fun fact for San Franciscans: there's a functioning Vectrex on the upstairs bar at DNA Lounge @dnalounge. If you express the least bit of silent interest in it the bartenders will silently power it on :). My elementary school library had a donated Vectrex but I hadn't played one since.

@futurebird I've been reflecting that the Democrats' highest point in 40+ years was the Obama era when the party pulled (not very much) to the left and activated big crowds of new voters. Party leadership's insistence that the economy is great is also 100% alienated from the real experience of anyone making less than 60k, especially in rural states; it's the "Mission Accomplished" banner of 2024.

@henry Firstly, welcome to town! I hope you have a great time. Like most outtatowners, you've been propagandized. I live in one of the "bad" neighborhoods, and it would be easy to frame some human misery with a camera and sell it, and news outlets LOVE to print that cause it grabs views, but a 360 view of the same scene would look like what you're seeing now. The nation's housing inequality is largely unseen, SF is a little tight on dirtspace so it's more on display.
