Today's level in Lunaires is about kindness. It may or may not be spooky, depending on how you understand the concept discussed by the rather spiritual ghost who's hanging out on the bridge. Also, bonus points to myself for referencing indirectly another game of mine, I guess. The new update is playable here: https://lectronice.itch.io/lunaires#theDaily #Day13

I’m doing two game jams at the same time. My own, and another one at work. Technically, three, since I also participate to the decade game jam, which started maybe three or four years ago, and for which I still haven’t submitted anything. I’m not sure if it means I’m good or bad at time management. In any case, I’m having fun.

Today's level in Lunaires is definitely the spookiest so far. It's dark, empty and so cursed there's not even a ghost to haunt it.Stare into the Abyss here: https://lectronice.itch.io/lunaires#theDaily #Day14

Today in Lunaires, you' ll meet an armadillo who has a lot to say about the zoologists' lack of imagination regarding armadillo names. Also, he's a bit spooky, probably because of his big red eyes.Ignore him and talk to the witch instead. You' ll find both of them here: https://lectronice.itch.io/lunairesI've also added some QoL improvements, you can now jump directly to the latest level or to a random one.#theDaily #Day15

Lunaires' latest level is up. It's been invaded by long-legged birds for some spooky reason. I can't really say these birds are spooky though, they're kind of cute, and quite friendly since they don't mind when you jump on their back to use them as stairs. But maybe they're actually sentient stairs disguised as birds. That would be much more spooky.Visit them here: https://lectronice.itch.io/lunaires#theDaily #Day16

Split keyboards are far more superior to any other kind of keyboard for one simple reason. It's not the ergonomics, the cool factor or any other marketing stunt. It's the fact that when you, a complete moron who should have known better, spill the entire content of your glass of kombucha tea over your desk, both halves of your keyboard are distant enough to not get hit by a single drop.

Me, explaining Death Stranding to a coworker: It's a game where you keep stumbling through lush landscapes while throwing bombs made with your own urine and feces at petroleum ghosts. Also, you carry a living fetus in a bottle as a ghost detection device and you're kind of immortal because when you die you go to the beach and, uh, you can also customize the color of your sunglasses, and actually, it's about rebuilding communities and connecting people.

Trying to convince my almost 5-year-old that Totoro might be something they’d enjoy.- No, I don’t want to watch a movie!- Actually, it’s a movie but also a cartoon.- No! I want to watch Paw Patrol! It’s the best cartoon!- Mmh, it’s very different from Paw Patrol, you’ll see, it’s… (so much better, you have no idea)- No! No way!- Is there a cat-bus in Paw Patrol?- Uh, a what?- A giant cat, who is also a bus. There’s one in Totoro.- Oh. (sudden silence, eyes sparkle)

In case you’re wondering, the cat-bus scored a massive hit. My kid got so excited they had to describe it with extreme details to their grandmother on the phone, to the point we could only schedule to watch it again with her, since she didn’t know Totoro.I hadn’t seen it in while, and wow, it’s still pure magic. This time it felt deeply emotional, more than the usual. It’s one of these rare works that you can project a new layer of meaning onto every time you dive into them.

Still chuckling about the fact that the cat bus is quite anatomically correct and apparently male, and that he uses zombie mice for headlights. I mean, unless these mice are actual parts of his body, they look very much like dead trophies with nasty red eyes animated by dark magic. Which is is not as cute as you’d think at first, but definitely what some kind of magical feline would do.I’m sure someone has written a whole thesis on the darker side of Totoro.

In any case, what struck me the most in My Neighbor Totoro is how adults simply choose to believe children and accept their fantasies as part of reality. That, and the fact they can still catch a glimpse of this magical or imaginary realm, even if they now clearly live outside of it. It’s a beautiful message.

My nearly 70-year-old mom has been blasting shamanic dark ambient Viking music the whole week. It sure beats Christmas carols.

I think I’m going to try to apply a "no computer before noon" policy on non-work days. This will likely fail immediately, but this very thought at least makes me realize there’s some major room for improvement in this area of my life.

There are many reasons to use a split keyboard, but this is without a doubt the most important one.

I’ve converted my 70-year-old mom to vaporwave. She’s now blasting دل and b e g o t t e n 自杀 while doing watercolor paintings and embroidery. I guess neurofunk is next.

Today, in my never-ending war against domestic chaos, I had to go venture into the mephitic depths of the Swedish Temple of Blind Consumerism, in quest of numerous and affordable shelves.I brought back loads of cursed superfluous items, and, quite unsurprisingly, a member of my party has fallen under the spell of the unholy idol of the #Fediverse.

I’ve got a new "music player". As in "what kind of weird noise will this random object produce if I put that little black box next to it while wearing headphones?"I’m not sure how to define the SOMA Ether. It’s a bit of a noise instrument, a bit of a detector. It’s described as an anti-radio, since it grabs broad unfiltered radio waves and electromagnetic activity.Using it feels like ghost hunting. I now have no doubt that my washing machine is inhabited by some drill n bass spirit.
