@stux I can still power my system on like that -- a gentle toe-poke -- and if I'm mad enough I can power it off like that too -- although at that point the button location is irrelevent and the fulsomeness of whole foot is deployed.

@futurebird Two stories. Both occured this week. I have a small doll I sewed in primary school. The cats have discovered; thirtyish years with me, now days numbered. I do not know why, but I rescue and hide it in the dresser (sock drawer). Safe! Cat thumps. Cat scrapes. Cat has threaded through the dresser and emerges triumphant, doll in mouth.Coworker dresses and leaves home, returning many hours later. Where is cat? Upsidedown goes the house. Cat is found. Enclosed in sock drawer, asleep.

@futurebird We recently had a one hour remote session (snow day) which my child was very excited to participate in. They used it as a means of being in charge -- selecting which device to use, where in the house to set-up, and practiced the remote-in process. This session was an hour. While I had no remote learning as a kid, I can understand and support these short "check-ins". For mine the routine matters. I can also understand that it may challenge some families, or teachers, esp. if all-day.
