       @aaronpettman it takes investment of people's time and money to host and maintain a running instance. Let alone maintain and enhance the code base for the platform. Who will pay the $ necessary to keep it running? Who will do the work? The gap between expectations and the $ and people required to make that happen is widening. And we're currently running on donations and volunteers for 2.5 million users and 8000+ servers. It isn't sustainable. Yet. We need to do the work. Who's up for it? #fedi
