I’m a Texan and I love it here, but the situation is rapidly becoming untenable. A friend of mine just unhelpfully suggested that it’d be a real kicker if it turned out I’ve actually got covid, not just a vaccine reaction. Which is exactly what happened to her the day after she got her first vaxx. Time will tell, I guess.

Doggy PSA: If you do a lotta fetch with your obsessed high-energy cattle dog, Chuckit makes this great ventilated hollow, skeleton-y ball. Doesn’t block their air supply, easy on the teeth, easy to catch. Floats. Lighter and softer than regular balls so it won’t hurt’em if you accidentally hurl it at their head and it bounces onto your surprised Pomeranian. Less likely to break stuff if you play indoors. Mosca LOVES this thing. It doesn’t fly quite as far as a solid-walled ball but I don’t see that as a downside. #Dogs #DogsOfMastodon

So I just discovered that my new horse guy cleared out all his stuff from the bunkhouse and biffed off in the middle of the night, never, it would seem, to return. This was the day after I had declined to “loan” him $15,000 cash for a new truck, so I guess I dodged a bullet there. He’d only been with us a few months and never really meshed with the rest of the crew. I probably should’ve expected him to flake; he kept a bible in the barn, never stopped telling me how great he was, and wore WAY too much perfume.
