@GossiTheDog I'm so glad we rewarded someone who has all the grammatical finesse of a CoD Warzone player with billions of dollars. I'm sure that decision will lead to no regrettable outcomes. *throws all internet devices in the garbage, grabs bindle and hits the rails*

@foone I remember dealing with that API only to wind up using polling in the end because things got weird with Windows File Sharing mixed in.

@foone the other option besides converting kinectic energy into heat would be to eject enough mass from the train to reduce speeds to the point where friction brakes would be effective.Never mind that this would probably have determental effects on the earth's orbit and would reduce the passengers into a soup-like homogenate (though to be fair the passengers may have already been converted to that state shortly after departure).

@foone "64 kilobytes? What is this, a pointer for ants?"

@foone I once encountered that, but driven via front-end JS and absolutely no sanitation.

@foone I think because I saw the Foone-to-scale post first, I originally misread the dimensions and tried to think why someone would want a keyboard 5.5 meters long.

@foone if I had made an error of that sort, I would probably make a small cacophony of cursed.A miniature din if you would...

@foone looks like there was a .Net Framework 4 runtime for XP Pro at least, so at least you would have C# with generics, maybe some lambdas?

@foone there was one computer shop that had stacks of surplus expansion cards where I used to go to get 10base2 coax cards for a buck back in the 90s. That and making a computer seemed harder as all sorts of things could go wrong.

@foone I would love to see this in action. Makes me wish I still had my 5150.

@foone Given what I see working with development in Azure, I would totally believe this.

@foone I came across https://microcorelabs.wordpress.com/2024/12/31/mclv20_max-a-software-defined-nec-v20-cpu-and-more/ recently, which uses a Teensy to emulate a V20 for an XT system.

@foone if that size is fed to anything that expects an unsigned integer in order to allocate memory, there will be at least 2 billion entries more than expected. If used for pointer dereferencing, whoops. The bpp calculation is also interesting. I would expect to round up to the nearest target field with in bits, but then that is multiplied by 4 (adding 31 and doing an integer divide by 32 gives us the number of uints needed for a bitmap, so 4 to make that number of byte?)

@foone if you can get it to 130, it will give the yule log video a nice heat effect.

@foone are you talking about a docker that uses DOS as the host OS in order to run containerized DOS applications or containerizing a DOS emulation and development toolset for?

@foone found an old thread from Vogons about DOS/4GW crashing SimCity 2000 in DOSBox and a thread on Steam about Dark Forces acting in a similar manner. The remedy in either case was of course to do the opposite of what you did.Seems like an interesting problem.

@foone is this JIS Kilobytes, Whitworth Kilobytes, or SAE Kilobytes?
