I'm a bit of a boomer in that I hate things I don't understand.I hated podman, until I figure out how podman works.I hated systemd, until I figure out how systemd works (I've come to see systemd not as some evil thing that attacks the pre-existing norms for Linux for no reason, but as a [not perfect] solution to the inconsistencies that existed).I hated Wayland, until it just werked[tm] for me.There's things I dislike that I do have a grasping of, but when it comes to tech, 9 out of 10 times it's from a misunderstanding.

I created a YouTube account called Digital Frontiersman (doesn't have anything yet besides old PCLOS-related videos of mine from Rumble) because Rumble just seemed like right-leaning (not necessarily bad, just politics-oriented) YouTube to me anyway with less of a chance of being visible enough to monetize (tech content isn't really popular there). However, there's a few things I don't like about it:1. Obviously, YouTube is owned by Google. I have not had a Google account since roughly 2018-2019. 2. I don't like being a part of these large, censorship-driven platforms. An easy path to monetization doesn't really motivate me more than the desire to speak the truth in a video.3. If not YouTube, I am not interested in Rumble, VidLii, BitView, BitChute, etc. as I have used these at some points in the past and find them not as robust and permanent as PeerTube. They are also not open source or federated like PeerTube.I will do a poll and see what people think.

@HatkeshiatorTND Peertube is part of the fedi, also it gives a nice interface to view the videos and the ability to comment, like, and follow.

It's exactly the kind of thing that fixes the pain points of Linux for me like packaging formats and the init system. Systemd sort of tries to solve the fragmentation of Linux components by being all-encompassing but its syntax and design kind of sucks. For packaging, the DEB, RPM, PKGBUILD, and other formats all have their pros and cons, but it feels like its ordained by God to not just have the packages configured and made under a single language, but the entire system itself from systemd to the bootloader (which, funnily enough, the live CD defaulted to systemd-boot) in a fashion that prevents conflict and promotes reproducibility. For the record, I'm not even a programmer or developer of any sort but I have already learned in just a few short days the fundamentals of the Nix language. It's not as difficult or ridiculous as I expected. If Nix is anything like Haskell as they say, then I may get into Haskell.
