I remember the time when Fosstodon wasn't all about spam from bots, advertising from commercial companies and random users begging for donations.This is in no way Fosstodons fault though. This is the unfortunate result of an instance getting too big.Perhaps it's time to move to somewhere else. Do you have any suggestions? Perhaps it's time to boot up my own Go-to social instance again.

Is there any good photo organizing software like Shotwell, with facial recognition that actually works?I'm aware of DigiKam, but they're using the classic KDE GUI, which I don't like.

@_nibbles @grillchen Local for me excludes anything that requires the "cloud". I don't know if there's a proper word for it. Desktop application perhaps?

I'm back with YAM Launcher. Both KISS Launcher and Lawnchair are great launchers, but I, personally speaking, find them too distracting no matter how I configure them.YAM Launcher is available on F-Droid if anyone would like to try it out.#YAMLauncher #Android

I regret installing PipeWire. It's a even more buggy mess than Pulseaudio was when it came out.I just spent another 15 minutes trying to debug why my Bluetooth headphones wouldn't connect to my computer. I eventually remembered that I need to restart PipeWire for it to work, as it randomly just stops working.

I didn't know that Ubuntu had turned into a malware these days.I keep uninstalling Snaps, because I don't want their package manager that doesn't respect me or my settings. However. It just keeps reinstalling itself, removes Firefox (that I installed via APT) and then install their Snap-version of Firefox.This is by definition a persistent malware!#Canonical #Ubuntu

It might sound harsch, but it's the truth.I do feel with this person though, loosing your data sucks, especially when it's photos and all that.I really hope that this ugly mess with Apple get resolved and that he gets everything back.
