@exlibrarykris @clive Well... that's ONE way to make any checklist infinitely more intimidating.

@shacker Holy crap, this is wild!I mean, try to imagine the world from the perspective of an insect. It's practically beyond our comprehension.

⚠️ It's a good idea to keep a list of #HashTags that you follow.#Mastodon in the browser doesn't always provide a way to list the tags you're following, which makes it hard to unfollow tags later. But that varies. Some instances have it. Some don't.

@HeidiCuda I'm not sure it even requires much funding anymore. The internet makes propaganda trivial. All it takes is either a lot of time and motivation, or buying some ads on Social Media. My concern is the industry growing up around propaganda itself. Television has a bunch of political "news" channels, which seem to be getting more extreme and more effective lately. And it seems like a few large companies have been buying up a bunch of newspapers and channels as well.

@hn50 This is great food-for-thought. But I slightly disagree with the idea of using a static site generator for cosmetic reasons like creating links without underlines. Something like that is trivial with CSS, and if the dependency is missing the page is barely and worse off.

@textfiles I remember drooling over ads for the OrangePC upgrade cards back in the day. I badly wanted to run RPG Maker 2000 at full speed on the Mac G3 we had at home. I had to make do with VirtualPC and running it at 10 FPS.

@luna Oh that's nothing new. This used to happen all the time in Windows XP. It was kind of fun to try "drawing" something by dragging a window around and smearing it across the screen.#RetroComputing

@textfiles Okay that is *very* impressive for Flash in the year 2000. I don't think actual 3D was added into Flash until ActionScript 3 and the molehill rendering engine in... I think 2011? So I'm guessing this is some very clever rotoscoping. I tried playing with a 3D engine for ActionScript 2 called Sandy3D and it could barely handle 200 triangles in the year 2007. But ActionScript 2 itself wasn't added to Flash until 2003. So in the year 2000 Flash barely had any programming language at all.

@matthew Interesting. So if I understand correctly you're using LUA as a server-side language to dynamically generate HTML. This is nice since it keeps the output nice and clean.

@ZachWeinersmith There is literally an audience for everything, so just trust your own feelings. Because if you make things you enjoy and care about, then you'll naturally put more effort into them and the results will be better. That's the value of following your passion.
