@silverpill By the way, do you know any implementations that use the `quoteURL` property?

Wow, English-only people (or Western languages, for that matter) are so naïve. In case you didn't know, the lang attribute is very important in East Asian languages.https://lobste.rs/s/9ck6y9/what_programming_language_is_this_code#c_0zuhqshttps://jsfiddle.net/8sa8ndLj/2/#CJK #language #EastAsian

On the #Korean #fediverse, there's a word called #聯親 (yeonchin; literally “fedifriend”) which stands for #聯合宇宙 #親舊 (yeonabuju chingu; literally “fediverse friend”). It means someone who follows each other or frequently exchanges replies. It's only used on the fediverse!#연친 #fedifriend

I wish #Mastodon would just implement FEP-8b32 instead of the LD Signatures which is obsolete.https://w3id.org/fep/8b32#ActivityPub #LDSignatures #fedidev

I received a request from @ghost today to add #LDSignatures to @fedify for compatibility with #Mastodon, as Mastodon does not plan to implement Object Integrity Proofs (FEP-8b32) for the near future. 😩However, Mastodon's implementation of LD Signatures does not even use valid JSON-LD properties (despite the name), so I'm not sure how to make it compatible with Mastodon since #Fedify does JSON-LD processing. 🤔#ActivityPub #fedidev

As the creator of Fedify, I'd like to see either ActivityPub implementations all deal with JSON-LD properly, or the ActivityPub spec gives up on JSON-LD. 😩

Quick question: would it be okay to embed a collection object in the `as:replies` property of `as:Note` & `as:Article` objects instead of putting the URL to the collection in the `as:replies` property? In theory, it would be okay, but would the actual implementations handle it well?#fedidev #ActivityPub

One of the benefits of #Fedify is that you don't have to worry about whether a property of an Activity Vocabulary object has a URL or embeds an actual object. If you need an object, you can call the `getObject()` method (which will fetch a remote object if necessary). If you need a URI, you can access the `objectId` property.https://fedify.dev/manual/vocab#object-ids-and-remote-objects#ActivityPub #fedidev

According to the Activity Vocabulary specification, the summary property should be HTML encoded, but #Mastodon is putting plain text in the summary property. #Hollo is putting #HTML in the summary, but should I change Hollo's behavior? :blobcatthink:https://www.w3.org/TR/activitystreams-vocabulary/#dfn-summary#ActivityPub #fedidev

Why do people go to Bluesky? Because it's complicated to pick a server? Because it's hard to search? Because it's not VC-backed and sustainability is a concern? :blobcatnotlikethis:

When I was talking to my wife (@tokolovesme), who still primarily uses X, about this topic, she said that she feels isolated whenever she uses Mastodon. In particular, when you're on a low-population server, you can't easily search for other people's posts, you can't see all the replies to the posts that flow in, and you actually see far fewer favorites and reposts. All of this makes the fediverse feel less lively.

The loss of replies, favorites, etc. when crossing server boundaries, as well as the search issues, seems like something that should be fixed as soon as possible…

@thisismissem Oh, I got it. If I understand it correctly relays usually expect Linked Data Signatures (or Object Integrity Proofs?) or just announce object URIs, right?
