@raixe@noagendasocial.com Since asking the original question I have had a chance to see a LIVESTREAM where there were 150 peers, and I would say all of them were simply using a web browser. As for a peer keeping the Webtorrent Client running all day in order to help the owner of a video ARCHIVE such as this, I would guess that it depends on the motivation of the audience, which in turn depends on their purpose: If they are part of a strong political, philosophical or religious movement. If the audience is simply people browsing the web, it is unlikely that more than a few would bother to help in that way.

What I'm really saying is that the promise of peer-ing, the promise of decentralized sharing the network cost of videos, it will be fulfilled the most by the very people eschewed by its creators: political and religious fanatics. The ADL is gonna have a stroke once they realize this.

I can hardly believe I've watched four videos on this site raving about Peertube and not one of them describes how to install it.

I like Peertube's user interface very much, in general, but there's something that it lacks: A way of easily finding videos elsewhere in the fediverse similar to those on the instance one happens to be on. I mean, this instance is nice and all but it is just wall-to-wall Luke Smith, and once one has viewed all the videos here then that's it. I want to see a list of recommendations that are Luke-adjacent (if one objects that Luke is unique then pick another example).

Bitcoin sucks as money in several ways, but its use as money is exactly the justification I hear when confronting its tulip-crazed proponents.

So the web should be designed for people with Internet connections which are a couple of tincans connected with string.

@nosat@liberdon.com You can only do that if you have a behavioural baseline to compare it to. Does a fish know that there is water?

By the way, I comment on these videos to see if I can get some discussion with other viewers, since I understand that LS's mindset of aloof condescension makes any useful response from him unlikely.

So what you are saying, in the most abstract sense, is that an informational website should be a dev's avocation and not his vocation, because there is no business model for just putting up information. Funnily enough, I agree totally. The more pajeets and other economic exploiters and parasites are driven to extinction the better! It is the an approach to short-circuiting the "guest-worker " economy by simple geodesy: connecting users to information by the shortest path.

Few normies will ever learn to use git, and they would need a gui interface in order to make submissions.
