@Debradelai @stephanieanne Yeah, the C-17s can in an emergency pack like several hundred people in I think. From what I'm reading it's regularly used to lift people out of natural disaster areas.

@Debradelai @stephanieanne That would make sense.Really, it just means there's probably plenty of older photos floating around that news orgs, only a few of which have the wherewithal/intelligence to include a little caption below the photo saying 'stock image from 20XX disaster relief efforts for illustrative purposes', which of course isn't copied when someone else steals the image for their blog purporting to be a news article.

@watch4thedrop It's the federal government, nothing's official until Schumer tramples a toddler over to get in front of a news camera.

@umad80 @watch4thedrop Fuck it, neither party actually gives a damn about government shutdowns at this point, this is just a standard part of budget negotiations at this point. The government will shut down, both sides will gripe and harp at each other, then in a few weeks they'll refund the government.

@watch4thedrop @umad80 Politics is a badly written, uninspired shonen anime plot.

@Debradelai Yep. Word from my suppliers is that its literally the cargo crate costs that are driving the price hikes for shoes, $5-10/shoe. If anyone’s to blame, its the dockworker unions and California, slowing down that unloading process so much and contributing to the crate shortage, and China’s own manufacturing woes. China decided to torch their relations with Australia starting in 2016, refused to import Aussie coal and iron ore, and now have massive shortages of both

@Debradelai @wziminer Yeah, I saw their yuuuge braintrust streams that were going on in my youtube notifications and ignored those. They were bored after all the trial crap and were trying to make drama where there wasn't any to keep people watching their 8 hour marathon streams lmfao.

@watch4thedrop Oh, we just don’t carry adidas. I have to imagine the supply chain is hosing them pretty bad too, our sandals vendors we go with (oofos and olukai) have been riding the strugglebus with inventory all year.

@watch4thedrop @JamesPetrilla if you want to fuck with the retail flippers hard, report them to adidas. Not sure about adidas, but other big manufacturers (new balance, brooks, etc) often are very controlling over who gets to sell product where, to protect retail partners and their own distribution chains. They’re usually pretty litigious about nailing people who sell their product without an explicit agreement in place.

@Debradelai @watch4thedrop Yep, and actually if you read the original hodges v oberfell decision, the deciding factor was the fact that you had couples for whom their marriage and associate benefits were recognized in some states and not others, and in turn recognized by some government organizations and not others. THAT'S why it went to the Supreme Court in the first place, as it was essentially an inter-state dispute, which puts Congress in turn as fully within its purview to pass this law.
