I thought I might do a wee reintroduction, since Iâve moved instances.Iâm Rochelle. Iâm a cis pÄkehÄ woman & live in Ćtepoti with my husband & my cat Cooper. I have hEDS with pain, fatigue, etc. My husband has CFS.I enjoy audiobooks, (lit fic, & translation), music (just listening) podcasts.I love dance, & used to teach social ballroom, latin & street latin. Itâs a pleasure being here, no algorithms is so nice, as are you all. #nztwits

Hey, sorry Iâve missed posting, Iâm actually in hospital, an unexpected diversion, after tripping on the sofa leg, & falling on my right arm & breaking it, up near the shoulder. I also badly twisted my ankle, broke my tooth as my face hit the floor. Thatâs was Saturday. Some people want to keep me (OT &PT) doc keeps saying I can go but they donât even have my meds right. Basically itâs all bs & Iâm the stupid person who fell. #nztwits #NZToots

@allison683etc Thatâs very similar to how I have described it to my husband. The stimulus is like pain and I need to be left alone. Now that I know that, and he knows it, itâs easier to ask for when I need it.

@isaacfreeman @swansinflight the âsea lionâ pushes boundaries in pursuit of an explanation they act entitled to.Asking isnât sea lioning. But if youâre told to go away & continue to pursue an answer, thatâs not okay. Occasionally many people ask the same question. Each might be in good faith, but itâs bad faith to expect an answer from someone whoâs not interested in taking the discussion further. It doesnât mean theyâre wrong. Just that explaining repeatedly is exhausting đ€·đ»ââïž

@lightweight @vik thatâs interesting. With current tech we could potentially recreate the conditions it requires. But if it was over-harvesting, then we might be able to fix that too. Although itâll be incredibly expensive to get, given humans & capitalism.

@JeffHowell I think thatâs a very good idea. It has seemed clear to me over the past few months that we really could use more Ao/NZ spaces. The alternative is to get people to use #NZPol much like they would at bird-site. That way people who want it can find it easily, & people who donât can choose to filter it out if they want to.

@strypey True, but isnât it easier for people who want to follow the topic to search hashtags? I was trying to find an easy way in, as well as a way out. If you can do both with one, that would be great I have CW set to show automatically. I need to change that if we suddenly had a lot of political discussion here.Do hashtags work if theyâre in a CW? Can you search them or filter for them?@JeffHowell @renamedpm

I wanted to tell people that https://Nitter.net exists. Want to share something from twitter, without sending traffic to Twitter? Use Nitter instead. It lets you share Twitter stuff (but not interact with it), & youâre not giving Twitter clicks. If you want to link people to twitter thatâs ok with me. I just boosted something that linked to twitter & was reminded: Nitter exists đ

My uncle flew to TÄmaki Makaurau recently to spend a holiday with friends. They had a dinner with some other friends. One of the people at that dinner knew she had covid, but didnât tell anyone until later bc she didnât want to miss out.Now all of them have covid. Heâs around 70, & even if he wasnât, I still would be pissed that someone decided their night of entertainment was more important than the health of the people around them.

Finished reading The Inseparables by Simone de Beauvoir (excellent btw, highly recommend), then accidentally doubled down on existentialism listening to the Gareth & Billcast đAlways loved listening to Digital Planet through all its name variations on the BBC World Service. I stumbled across @billt âs promo about the last episode here on the fediverse & am enjoying hearing both of their voices & ideas again.Cheers Bill (& Gareth) đ„
