@olena @actuallyautistic These (ahem) professionals are there to prescribe either antidepressants or anti-anxiety meds, because thatās what makes the pharmaceutical companies the most money with the lowest probability of liability payouts. So it took 5 minutes for them to decide to put you on the anxiety track. āDiagnosisā is just what they have to call it to keep the paperwork legal. Our corruption crisis is not limited to politics.

@olena @actuallyautistic Am I bitter that I canāt get anyone to even assess me for ADHD as a 50-something adult who has struggled with what she always believed was anxiety? Maybe.

@SallyStrange @darrellpf @actuallyautistic Because it requires that they sustain attention for longer than they are accustomed to. They could train themselves.IMO, we should add practice in sustained attention to school curriculums. Iām hearing that kids who grew up with smartphones/tablets are entering college with low reading ability, having been trained out of directing their own attention by devices telling them what to pay attention to & rewarding compliance.

@stux But crypto has always been for laundering money, right? So dudes who need to clean some cash buy one of these scammy coins when the coin emerges, then sell them for washed cash a few days later, before the coin utterly collapses. Then next time they have cash they need to be able to use, they nudge some sleazy techbro to issue another meme coin. The collapse of the coin is insurance against future records requests: oh well we went out of business and had to shred everything.

@stux If it was about conservation, Iād be ok with āno, you canāt go thereā, but as far as already-human-infested parts of the world, IMO the only restrictions should be about public/population health, not nimby political entities. I would just amend your go wherever you want whenever you want with the condition that it has to be with the consent of the people already living there - but locally, not politicos hundreds of miles away trying to game each other.

@Nonilex In Eastern Europe in the last century, ppl were reported to the secret police *by their neighbors*. Citizens were kidnapped, āinterrogatedā, and offered release if they described to secret police anti-government activities their neighbors engaged in, such as feeding or housing indigent people or speaking against the government. Sometimes people informed on others out of spite, similar to baseball Karen threatening to call ICE. Now we have social media narcing on everyone.
