@actualham Of course you're right as always. But coincidentally I just used the word "improve" about myself less than 24 hours ago. Not sure I should have.It may have been a poor word choice for the campus context—me revising a few things for fall. I do NOT want to own external conditions that are partly about state budget, partly about neoliberal slashing of HUM/SS.BTW I gave y'all (the AI Challenge) a mention on Bryan's Future Trends Forum. Hmm hmmEither way, I think it's in the "great for kids, scary for admins & parents" category depending on grade level. So yes, proceed. I'd be gathering my version of "the great books" Henry Bemis-style, not tech manuals. But that's just me.

@RickiTarr I live in a small town with its share of rich folks who may really believe that everyone can afford books from Amazon, and don't need a public library.We fended them off several election cycles back. Not only retained, but slightly expanded the library budget. But it's not like they left town so... #EternalVigilance and all that.

@futurebird On social media, I often post things that ONLY my close circles from different periods of my life will "get." Total in-jokes.Turns out that's OK with everyone except a couple of very strait-laced fam, not gonna win with them anyway.If someone should ask, I just tell them and that's also OK.BTW in one of my best laugh reactions ever, I capitalized the pronoun WHO for emphasis. Then someone tried to side-door a subtle reply about the health org, and it fell soooo flat... 😅

@futurebird @emilymbender I can imagine getting tired/worn down after a while, and just letting it go. With classes starting in a few weeks, I can REALLY imagine this.There will be techbro-approved concepts about AI to unlearn if we are to bring critical AI literacy into our courses.We can't stop class for a review every time someone anthropomorphizes an LLM in a discussion... hmm but... a "TAPS SIGN" short version maybe?
