Web navigating 2020. Turning off JS to bypass paywall is something I do regularly, but also turning on JS is often necessary just to read a news site with text-only content and proud not to have a paywall. Oh, dear young web devs and designers, what are you building down there!

@bamfic @daniels @freedcreative I prefer buggy Firefox to resist the catastrophic dominance of Chrome. Chrome just works but that is a typical feature that it shares with all other creepy pieces of malware. It is the sugar that keeps us all swallowing their toxic dish.

Anyone trying to prove the opposite is stupidly blind or payed by Google. I refuse to use anything related to Google. Anything online that relies on Chrome only, I consider as malware. I will not even attempt to have a look.

@alcinnz @staticbrat @animeirl @velartrill As a complete computer idiot I bought a new laptop from Tuxedo computers. The box arrived, I hit the power button, typed a password, and then the thing just worked. Even my evil HP printer worked immediately. The OS is an Ubuntu version customized by Tuxedo computers. I don’t really understand much more than with a Windows or a Mac, but it simply works. Preinstalled Linux is real and easy.

Looked up the meaning of NFT. (Non Fungible Token) Apparently one of the latest hypes in crypto artworld. Not really impressed. Slapping some ‘verifiable scarcity’ on whatever kind of random creation does not make it into art. Especially not when people pay a lot of money for it. Again: this is about the art-world, that crazy network circus of power, money and ego. Crypto art does not change anything here, on the contrary. Same old silly exclusivity game.

NFT in a nutshell: trying to get a lot of money really fast by creating artificial scarcity, hype and exclusivity by tapping some characters in a database, represented by an art-like image. Intriguing game sending apparently a wave of nervousness in the digital art-world. Not about art, not even the conceptual kind. It’s another money game, nothing new. It is the core dynamic of the traditional art-world finally becoming fully digital.
