@GrumpyOldNurse @sub_aetha I think, a real woman have never received such attentive care for a real cramps. Can't even get them to prescribe me a 1000mg Tylenol. If you're looking for the "real" woman experience, then having "period" pain ignored is it.

@Fullycaffeinated @Cousin_Isobel It's hard for me to read such a stylized script too. Just if you already know the poem and you can recognize a couple lines or phrases, then it's easier to mostly guess the rest, lol. But, she listed the name too and I think most have been translated 😉

Don't even know how much painkillers I took today. Can't sleep more than 2h at a time before being woken by pain, and lost track of how many times I vomited. Really must go to Dr when it's over this month. It can't be normal 😞

@LadyMont @ricki I love this. For my family, I'm really thankful for the kids that we mostly have a rule, no pictures online at all. Even family pics are shared only privately in the family group chat.It makes me so angry when people post even naked, or almost naked, pics of small kids or babies. Yeah, babies are cute and it's a funny moment. Take your picture, print it out, and put it in the family scrapbook!

@polarisera Thank you xI hate to be a "self diagnosis" type of person, but really think I must have endometriosis or something. Must make an appointment for next week and not take no for an answer, until I figure out what's wrong. It feels like it's gotten worse since I was a teenager. It was scary and like almost ready to go to ER overnight as besides the regular pain, nausea, vomiting, felt like I couldn't get enough air no matter how deep I breathe. 😖 suffocating feeling..Worst part of being female 100%

I am studying one course online now, because I missed an academic setting of my field, but the inadequacy I feel really hits ! I hesitate in using terms like "imposter syndrome," because it seems more realistic than anything gendered, or in the mind.Of course, I teach, research, write, keep up in my own personal study, and all of this, but others are so engaged too, and more accomplished, or with a more vibrant academic lineage. We are two women in the 15 students in the course, and I am very appreciative, the facilitator/instructor have mentioned that he is pleased there is more than one woman studying this subject (most women in the field don't feel interested in this area much...) and lectured to everybody in our first day on the place of females in the scholarship, the importance of giving the female students respect, and a strong encouragement that we will not allow some wrong notions of shyness to prevent our benefit, so he wishes we two will be most than the others vocal in our contribution even if we find it insignificant.I realize, no matter how little I contributed in such seminar/discussion style class, I would feel I've spoken too much or said something silly, so it's an important reminder...even if the female students, you think you have already said a lot, say more.

//The man who is suspected of stabbing 10 people on a high-speed train in Tokyo on Friday night has admitted to having dreamt of killing women and wanting to murder as many as possible, reports say.“I have been wanting to kill happy-looking women for the past six years. Anyone would have been OK,” said the suspect, Yusuke Tsushima, 36, Japanese media reported, citing police sources. //https://www.rt.com/news/531442-japan-tokyo-train-stabbing/

@Yemaya @k181 For me, bigger issue is that we push the view that these body parts have zero functions other than having babies...I had one family member who was given a hysterectomy after a series of dangerous miscarriages and stillbirths. Now, she is dying soon from colorectal cancer. I was shocked to learn that some estimates said that the estrogen produced by our body is a great protection against some cancers, such that the hysterectomy can cause ~30% increased risk. This is beyond the other impacts with regard to the memory, and potential for dementia etc...and who knows what else is unknown, given how poorly understood bodies in general (IE men), and let alone women's bodies, are?Our body parts have functions, and they work together to protect us and keep us strong and healthy. Except when there are serious (physical) health issues, I think we should leave things be as much as possible.

@Sherri_Ingrey As always, for anyone interested also in some internal, subject -centered work in these areas, I can't recommend anything better than "Politics of Piety" by Saba Mahmood. It is, I think, a complementary read to the book you posted on the left, which I also read some years back.

A while back, someone had posted link regarding a lab looking at menstrual irregularities after covid vaccine. Anyone can give the link to that page? I believe they were based in UK. I get a lot of menstruation questions from women in UK, and they report irregularities so I wanted to refer them to here.

@thisisthebreath Noo, not like this, there was something one posted a while ago, but I just can't remember it. It was a research lab collecting data from a bunch of women, and I guess probably the goal was publishing findings at some point. We're Muslim so when the menstruation is quite heavy and goes over a certain number of days the problem arises, do I have to pray or not...so many who work with women in this field started getting a lot of questions who mention their irregular bleeding/spotting/whatever after vaccination, and ask that if it's side effect related with vaccine then can they disregard the excessive bleeding/spotting in terms of the prayer, is this bleeding considered part of the menstruation, etc... This is kind of meta-discussion going on at the moment, so beyond answering the immediate question on the religious ruling, I want to refer the questioners to report their experience to this lab + have colleagues in this field do same for the women who ask questions to them too.

@fpcgggc Because, on every side people don't have a real opinion. They look at the thermometer, and report the temperature back!

@FemaleIsNotAFeeling you will find in most Muslim cultures, people are generally very gentle and loving to cats. Even in early books which helped form the culture you will find some stories on how kindness to cats can be a means to enter paradise, while cruelty to cats would lead to punishment. In many mosques, cats like take over and do as they please, same with everywhere :pWell, now if only in our countries we could end the cruelty of cats sold in tint cages, in open markets...

Have any of you studied math seriously to relatively high level in later years of life?I'm ashamed, I always neglected math in favor of other studies, so I never got too far...I took an elementary statistics class in university and enjoyed it, did very well, found it interesting, but that was also really the end. Now, I want to improve and progress in this to be more competent. Anybody can recommend me some way to self study?Books?Or online classes?
