Either way I think when you take him being a stand up guy people liked and trusted into account these action made sense, they trusted him inspite of these slip ups because they trusted him, and knew he'd never actually do anything compromising. Podcast race are definitely a spent resource at this point. Last I checked in with TRS they were arguing that bringing manufacturing jobs back to America was the solution to the white race's problems. Like it was all they were talking about for weeks. When the hottest take you've got left is 1990's ross perot talking points your value as a revolutionally resource is pretty much spent.

Therefore people develop a strong one sided bond with their chosen avatar and get very upset on an emotional level with their chosen avatar becomes out of touch with their fanbase and starts engaging in behaviour which they view as counter to their interests. It leads to what would seem like a very simple and casual relationship, one of a podcaster and their viewers, becoming very emotionally charged. Admittedly behaviour I was guilty of when I was younger and stupider. It plays a significant part in all the drama you see on line, especially considering the tendency for internet celebrities (and celebrities in general) to be narcissistic with little actual connection to their fanbase.
