@grunfink@comam.es finally - thanks. And on the same domain :) now, creating a theme in manpageblog design

Started the first iteration of #snac (#snac2) customizing to match #manpageblog. It took a bite more time than initially expected but @grunfink@comam.es indeed made some great and clever ideas when creating snac. The function for attributes and tags in his C functions are a great idea and simplify it. I guess, I simply had added them statically... However, a preview is available right here (as said, still not perfect, more to be done soon):http://gyptazy.com/fedi/gyptazy/#mastodon #alternatives #fediverse #activitypub #customizing

First, it looks a bit strange. HTML attributes, tags and elements wrapped in C? But it's quick! And @grunfink@comam.es had a great idea of simplifying it with the helper functions to even close them again. The more I adjusted all the things in #snac / #snac2 to my personal needs, the closer I had a look to the code base after being absent to snac for almost a bit more than a year. He made a really great job!#fediverse #mastodon #activitypub

Sylve is a new and very promising bhyve and jail manager for FreeBSD - coming with clustering support and a pretty nice and modern web ui which is alike the #Proxmox one. I had a closer look at it... @jae@darkdork.dev @stfn@fedi.stfn.pl @stefano@bsd.cafe I more see it in a scope what we haven’t had in the past for FreeBSD. A possibility for ClickOps - people migrating from VMware environments to other solutions. Unfortunately, this is already a bit late - but better later than never.

Are you in #tech and running your own #Fediverse instance? You might want to join an Activity Pub relay instance! My relay at https://fedi-relay.gyptazy.com has currently 139 instances connected, mostly tech related sharing the same mindset and interests like #Linux, #BSD, #Ansible, #Proxmox, #Coding, and many more! You can easily join from your instance when using #Pleroma, #snac (#snac2), #Mastodon and its forks 🙂#fedi #fediworld #fedicommunity #community #FreeBSD #OpenBSD #NetBSD #homelab #Python #Debian #RockyLinux #Feditips

We at @credativde@mastodon.social are launching our very first & free open-source virtualization gathering in Germany, Mönchengladbach. This new community event brings together everyone who’s passionate about open virtualization technologies, whether it’s Proxmox VE, XCP-ng, bhyve, Harvester, or any of the countless projects that make open infrastructure thrive. It’s about sharing experiences, learning from each other, and connecting with those who build and rely on open platforms every day.We start the evening with two talks:* "Enterprise-Ready? How people use Proxmox VE & Ceph" by Ronald Otto from Tuxis B.V.* "BoxyBSD – Creating a free VPS hosting platform" by Florian Paul Azim Hoberg from credativ GmbHAfterwards, the space opens up for discussion, networking, and casual chats. If you like to join with a talk, please feel free to reach out to me.More details can be found here:* https://gyptazy.com/open-source-virtualization-gathering-in-germany-monchengladbach/* https://www.credativ.de/blog/aktuelles/open-source-virtualization-gathering-dezember-2025/* https://www.meetup.com/de-DE/monchengladbach-oss-virtualization-gathering/events/311284475/Tags: #meet #meetup #gathering #virtualization #virtualisation #container #kvm #proxmox #proxlb #xcpng #xen #bhyve #sylve #klee #kleene #incus #vmware #alternatives #opensource #free

What do you mean? If BSD systems can use Wireguard? Sure, there're wireguard implementations for almost every BSD. If you mean, if we at BoxyBSD use WG for this - no.@bajax@baj.ax @BoxyBSD@bsd.cafe

Nope… Not sure, but I think Tailscale (tbh, never used) is layer 3. Such solutions require layer 2… evpn + vxlan@fox@hostnetwork.xyz @BoxyBSD@bsd.cafe

Running your own Fediverse instance and want to become more visible? You can simply use relay instances to be interconnected with other instances to exchange posts and it works seamless with #Mastodon, #Pleroma, #snac / #snac2 and many other ones! If you're in tech, you might want to use:https://fedi-relay.gyptazy.comYou can simply add it to get a bigger reach but also to get more interesting content into your own timeline which becomes even more important on single user- & smaller instances.#activitypub #mastodon #fediverse #opensource #bsd #runbsd #freebsd #openbsd #netbsd #dragonflybsd #debian #proxmox #xcpng #talos #coding #programming #fediwall #relay #fedirelay #acitivitypubrelay #selfhost #homelab #community

manpageblog v1.6 just got released. It is a static blog engine concept that treats written content like classic Unix man pages. It puts content first without sacrificing style and delivers a clean, elegant reading experience free from JavaScript, infinite scrolling, and other distracting clutter. The result is a fast, focused, and genuinely enjoyable way to consume high-quality content which can easily be served on very low power systems and follows the pure minimalism concept.manpageblog is written in Python and available for many systems, including #FreeBSD, #OpenBSD, #NetBSD or #Solaris based ones like #Illumos but also on #Linux like #Debian or #Ubuntu.Changelog v1.6:Pagination support addedSitemap support addedSEO optimizedLD+JSON support addedmanpageblog was initially crafted by me to match the minimalism on FreeBSD and you can directly start with it from the ports:

One thing that I always missed in my infrastructure at @BoxyBSD@bsd.cafe when running with #bhyve was a missing #Prometheus exporter for metrics of the #VMs (and #jails) - agentless of course... It f*cked me up, that I simply wrote it for my new platform which is based on #Sylve in #FreeBSD (thanks to @hayzam@bsd.cafe for creating Sylve!).It's written in Go and will be published asap.
